| Beliefs: | I feel that my views are based on a combination of logic, natural justice and a healthy dose of realism. The closest political ideology that describes me would be Libertarian but I seem to be wildly at odds with a number of Liberatarians. I am an atheist, but I strive to remain open minded. Politically I believe that it is important to avoid dogma and extremism, and that leaders should be selected from the people, and held to account by the people. |

Is the war in Afghanistan and Iraq (in essance, even the whole 'war against terrorism' a religious w

Greetings to my opponent. Good luck and have fun, keep 'er clean. Just to clarify, I am stating that the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are, indeed religious conflicts between the Islamic peoples and the 'Christian infidels' of the West. As such, my resolution will also state that the entire affair is born back to the Crusades, in which the disputes over Jerusalem and the Holy Land cost many lives and stirred many sentiments. In fact, this was made quite clear when Husseim stated that h...
Womens rights and equal judgements

My debate comes from a various different perceptions, why do women endure more sexual abuse get discriminated for ie: wearing short skirts , showiing flesh acting provocatively , whereas men can do the exact same thing except worse, sleep with alot of women ( one night stands) do the same things and be known as the "man" or someone cool,. This to me in basic women discrimination, my opinion is that women are discretley known as the weaker sex and the more incontrolled ones. i am completely...
Those Convicted of Serious Offences should be used for Medicine

It is my position that those convicted of the most serious offences, for example murder, have forfeited their human rights and deserve execution. Furthermore that the best method of execution is to utilise them for medical experimentation and/or organ donorship. My initial argument rests on these points, 1: Rights carry obligations. By committing such heinous offences the criminal should forfeit all rights. 2: Crimes such as murder, rape and terrorism are such terrible crimes that the crimi...
Cell phones should be allowed in school

I think that cell phones should be allowed to be used in schools, but put on vibrate in classes. I think that teachers should only let students accept calls from their families. cell phones should be face up on a desk though, so that when testing, no cheating is advised. Besides, even if one forbids cell phone usage, it doesnt prevent the problem... it only makes people use a phone in a place that it is uncalled for. (the bathroom or locker room)...
Sexuality is a Choice

My opponent claims that a person's sexuality, that is to say the trigger of sexual feelings is decided by deliberate choice. Decide to be gay, and you will find yourself feeling sexual desire for people of the same gender. I have argued consistently that is utterly false. The following arguments spring to mind, I, nor anyone else can remember a previous asexual period where we made a cold calculating deliberate choice to establish our sexuality. From what I can tell from personal experienc...
