Quote Debate

We shall Provide 2 quotes per round. A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do. Bob Dylan Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen. Winston Churchill...
Christianity is a polytheistic religion.

I start this debate because it seem so me that Christianity's very foundation is the concept that there is 2 different gods, yet all Christians advocate that there is only one god. Polytheism- "the doctrine of or belief in more than one god or in many gods." Alright, Christian mythology has 2 gods: "God" and "Satan". They are both omnipotent beings which transcend the physical world. They are merely 2 sides to the same coin, and are actually identical in concept. The only difference is tha...
Death sentences should be introduced for extremely serious charges in all countries.
There once was a man who killed a couple of people, went into jail, came out to kill more people, went back in again, and killed more people after coming out. There wouldn't have been so many deaths if a death sentence was introduced. This may seem inhumane, but since when did killing people become humane? In some countries, there is no death sentence, and since there isn't, it should be introduced. First of all, death sentences reduce the number of cold criminals behind bars. They carri...
Evolution occurs

Neither of us are biology experts, so this will be a fairly simple debate, using layman's terms mostly. All that is necessary for evolution to occur is: -reproduction -mutations If these things are present, than evolution will inevitably occur. There is no way, in fact, that these things can be present, without evolution consequently occurring. So in order for my opponent's opinion to hold any steady ground whatsoever is if he can provide evidence that mutations don't actually occu...
In the scenario provided by "The Euphio Question", the retail of therein product would be wrong.

I am going to keep this first round short, in the event that no one will know what I am reffering to, and the debate will not be accepted... This debate revolves around the scenario provided by the short story, "The Euphio Question", by Kurt Vonnegut. Off the top of my head, here is an abstract of it: An electronic device is invented which, with the flip of a switch, can make all near it feel a stronge sense of euphoria. This device was named the "Euphio". This product is refined, and a ch...
Christopher Columbus should not be honored with a holiday in his name.
Christopher Columbus was a terrible person who killed and enslaved many for self-gain. It is disgusting that to this day we celebrate him annually with a national holiday in his very name: Columbus Day. We as a society should not honor this man. We need to acknowledge that he was not a hero but a greedy mass-murderer. The atrocity that I hint at is his genocide against the Arawak Indians. After encountering these Indians, he wrote thus in his log of them: "They would make fine servants…Wi...
Having a resolution with two unrelated topics is bad, and the show "Lost" has a bad plot.

Having two resolutions in one debate can be very confusing, much in the way that the plot of Lost is confusing and random. To have a debate about 2 different things, is to not have enough focus on either of the topics, since the focus is divided in two -much in the way that the writing of the script for the show Lost, is divided between writers who are not in synchronization of what it is about. It will go back and forth between the two topics (in much the way that lost goes back and forth be...
My opponent will lose this debate if he or she does not follow these rules.

0. By accepting this debate, my opponent agrees to all the rulse already posted. This debate poses off of another debate that was quite comical to me. 1. Rules created hold power over all rules posted later, and no later rule can contradict an earlier rule. 2. Both players should still have the ability to post rules in their turn. 3. A violation of a rule that is not null and void will result in the rule-breaker losing this debate. 4. A player may only do something besides make rule...
Actual Fun

Okay, R1, I give this intro. My opponent gives me a list of several topics, pertaining to a variety of subjects. In R2, I pick the topic. My opponent picks his or her side. If they pick Pro, they go in their R2, and forfeit in R5, if they pick Con, they don't do anything else in R2. R3 and on are normal....
Forks are better than spoons.

They both have the sort of inverted dip, good for scooping food. However, forks have prongs, and spoons are rounded and dull at the tip. A fork is clearly much more beneficial to eat with, and you can eat a wider variety of food with this utensil....
