Compatabilism is a flawed philosophical doctrine.

Danielle
Kinesis

Many thanks in advance to whomever accepts this debate.I originally sent this challenge to Reasoning; however, like most people on this site, he declined my direct challenge. I don't see why considering not only is he a vehement Compatibilist, but so are some of the most brilliant philosophers in the world today. There is plenty of pro-Compatibilist information for my future opponent to steal from the internet, I can assure you. In fact it is the most popular position, so I will...

Ignorance is Bliss

Chrysippus
Kinesis

I thank in advance whatever hapless soul the Norns have fated to take up this debate opposite me. Perhaps no-one will. I don't know yet, and that fact causes me a certain degree of trepidation. I do put effort into these debates, after all, and it would be most disappointing if after my work nobody thought this debate worth their time.

What goes first: The Milk or the Cereal?

EADaniel
Kinesis

Alright, to start off the debate I will first explain the reason behind it. Me and one of my best friends been debating whether A: The milk goes first into the bowl, then the cereal follows, B: The cereal goes into the bowl first, hence the Milk is put in the bowl second. I will be supporting point "B", that the cereal comes first. My opponent will have to support point "A" that the milk goes first into the bowl. This is my first debate so don't blame me if the setup is a bit weird lol....

Metaethical Moral Relativism

polish666
Kinesis

Even if it were established that there are deep and widespread moral disagreements that cannot be rationally resolved, and that these disagreements are more significant than whatever agreements there may be, it would not immediately follow that MMR is correct. Other nonobjectivist conclusions might be drawn. In particular, opponents of objectivism might argue for moral skepticism, that we cannot know moral truths, or for a view that moral judgments lack truth-value (understood to imply a rejecti...
