Scooby Doo Encourages Drug Addiction
(Originally from my blog: http://musingsofjoe.wordpress.com) I've always known the show insulted intelligence. The conclusions given to the mysteries were always flamboyantly fallacious. The dialogues, in an attempt to be both witty and profound, were laughable in their stupidity. What was worse: A talking dog, with the vocabulary of a Pokémon, always ended up saving the day for completely unknown and erroneous reasons. I abhorred the show. Bored of the indolent animation and bored of the...
The Ecology Movement Has Become a Religion

(Definitions) It is good to want clean water and clean air. Most religions contain beneficial beliefs like "love thy neighbor" that are reasonable and practical guidelines for living. What distinguishes religion from ordinary social beliefs is an irrational component based upon faith. There are distinctive religious practices that only serve to please the gods of the religion or to increase the social binding of the group. For example, religious believers are called upon to perform certain cerem...

A debate on a topic that I am not mentioning in the topic line.

Alright, to kill the suspense, the topic is "Global Warming is caused by mankind's actions." I negate of course. Since PRO has the burden, I'll let him go first....
Same sex marriage should be legal everywere in the U.S.A.

SAME SEX MARRIAGE What is happiness? Happiness is the quality or state of being happy, content, and joyful. I believe that every person deserves a fair chance at happiness, and when you take away the right to same sex marriage you are robbing a good chunk of people of the chance to be happy. Of course you don't have to marry someone for your relationship to progress but if same sex couples are legally aloud to date then why not marry? It does not affect anyone but themselves and if they love...
The Bible should not be considered a reliable source to quote.

Throughout time people have quoted the bible. Every person and religion has their own interpretation of the Bible. Even athiests believe in the Bible, they simply believe not to believe. The Bible has been quoted to me too many times as proof of the existence of God, and in my opinion as a justification of religion, war, suffering, and ignorance. The Bible should not be considered a reliable source to quote. In order to win this debate, MY OPPONENT MUST PROVE without a doubt that the B...
Coca~Cola is better than Pepsi.
Coca-Cola is by far better than Pepsi. Here's 10 reasons why. 1. You can buy stuff with the caps. 2. They support the Olympics. 3. They support local sports. 4. It tastes better. 'Nuff said. 5. More people like Coca-Cola than Pepsi. 6. The Coca-Cola Company owns other things like Sprite, Minute Maid, and Vault. 7. Coca-Cola is better. 8. Pepsi tastes funky. 9. I ran out of things to say. 10. I already told you....
There is no such thing as a gateway drug

There have often been claims that drugs such as alcohol or marijuana can lead people into harder drugs (e.g. cocaine, crack, heroin). I do not believe that this is true, and I am against the whole idea of a gateway drug. This debate should be accepted by someone that DOES believe that softer drugs can lead to harder drugs. It would be appreciated if those people that would turn this debate into something else entirely (such as the definition of the word "such" or similar tactics) refrain fro...
In a democracy, civil disobedience is an appropriate weapon in the fight for justice.

This is a classic debate topic, whose roots, at least within an American context, go back to the struggle for American independence when British colonists engaged in acts of civil disobedience to protest against British rule. The Boston Tea Party, an act of civil disobedience, helped spark the American Revolution. It was a far less dramatic act of civil disobedience, a single individual refusing to pay his taxes in protest of the Mexican-American war and slavery in the nineteenth century that...
The Bible was not meant to be literally interpreted.

This debate isn't whether we should interpret parts of the Bible literally, there is no "grey area here". It's either to be 100% literally interpreted, or otherwise. ---- ==Pre-modern era Throughout most of the Christian era, Bible reading and Bible interpretation were confined to religious professionals. Until the fifteenth century, the Bible was available only in Latin. Even when the Bible was translated into other languages, the scarcity and high cost of Bibles kept them out of the h...
