Radiometric Dating is Accurate

Radiometric dating is the method of establishing the age of objects by measuring the levels of radioisotopes in the sample. The best known example is carbon dating. Carbon 14 is created by cosmic rays in the upper atmosphere. It decays to nitrogen 14 with a half life of 5730 years. C14 is continually being created and decaying, leading to an equilibrium state in the atmosphere. When the carbon dioxide, containing C14 as well as stable C12 and C13, is taken in by plants it is no longer exposed to...
Evolutionary Theory is a Farce

I Affirm: Modern and Past Evolutionary Theory is a Farce. Note: So as not to get into a semantical argument Farce could easily be replaced with "not true" or "incorrect". The motivation of the Pro is to ascertain evolutionary theory, with current knowledge, should not be accepted as true or a plausible explanation for existence. Macroevolution is what is being contested not microevolution. Evolutionary Theory implies macroevolution. Definitions(more definitions to follow if the desire or need...
To be against the right to possess a fire arm is to be, unwittingly, against self defense.
I believe that self defense is the most fundamental and essential right. If an individual is restrained from defending himself, his family, his community, or his country, he is left with absolutely no rights whatsoever. Without life, there are no rights! If a compendium of rights are agreed to and protected by law, but the right to self defense is absent, then the list of rights however long and valuable in themselves are voided by the first creep that chooses to relieve you of those rights....
There Is No Such Thing as an Agnostic.
The issue I am debating is of this atheist/agnostic debacle. While most people contend that atheists and agnostics are two separated positions, some atheists such as myself contend that agnostics are really just atheists. In other words, agnosticism is a "cop-out" for atheism. I believe that one of the biggest problems is with the definition of "atheist". Most people state that an atheist is one who does not believe god exists. However, I would contend that a more accurate definition of a...
Intelligent design is not a scientific theory.

I affirm that Intelligent design is not a scientific theory. [Definitions] Intelligent Design- Is the assertion that the universe and its features are explained by design by an omnipotent power (such as a god). Scientific Theory- A logically self-consistent model or framework for describing the behavior of a related set of natural or social phenomena. It originates from or is supported by experimental evidence. In this sense, a theory is a systematic and formalized expression of all pr...
The Christian flavor of God is immoral

I argue that the God presented to humanity by a majority of Christians is immoral. For this argument 2 points must be assumed. 1. God exists 2. Hell exists I argue that the omniscient creator of all things cannot coexist with Hell and be considered Loving, Just or Moral....
Faith is irrational
I define faith as belief without evidence. We should not believe things on insufficient evidence. If you here of a surgery that has only worked twice out of 500, you would opt for a better surgery. To teach faith is to teach the opposite of critical thinking. Not to mention that the claims of faith are usually the most radical of all; not only knowing the existence of god, but knowing its mind, knowing the origins of all things AND, as no scientist will ever say, with 100% certainty....
What is the purpose of Atheism?
This is not a debate, nessecarily. Since the topic is a question, I'll say that, I am Con, because I disagree with Atheism as a whole, and I'll let an atheist or someone with a good idea of how atheism works take the Pro position. Now, for my first round, I'll let you answer a question or two that I haven't been able to answer on my own. What is the purpose of Atheism? What can be gained from being a Atheist? If my opponent is interested, I am a Christian. I can't make an argument u...
The existence of evil seems to be incompatible with the existence of an omnipotent and caring God.
If god is real then he created evil not just as a test for mans loyalty to him but also as an opposite to define what one must do in life and what one shouldn't. without evil their cant be good and without yin their cant be yang....
Riddle of Epicuris
I want to see a christian refute the Riddle of Epicuris, i have made this debate only 1 round...ok here is the riddle Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?...
