Resolved: Debate.org should feature a catagory of debate called 'debate.org'

To make this perfectly clear, the catagories I am talking about are under the 'debate' tab at the top of your screen. The catagories currently are: All Arts Business Education Entertainment Health News Politics Regional Science Sports Technology There are few reasons why this should be added. 1. There are numerous amounts of debates on this site, about this site, but there is no clear place to put these debates. It would be clear where to put it, and would not create any confus...
The Wii has better games than the PS3

The Wii has WAY better games than the PS3! There is a bigger variety, and that variety lets EVERYONE play! The PS3 is full of shooters, and sports games mainly....
Resolved: Legalizing gay marriage would be better than legalizing Civil Unions.

First I would like the person that accepts this debate be on the side of (or at least pretending for educational purposes) supporting Civil Unions. Please do not simply say neither should be implemented. First I would like to define some terms. Gay Marriage is letting homosexuals to have the exact same certificates and rights as a regular heterosexual marriage. Civil unions were created in 2000 to provide legal protections to gays and lesbians in relationships in that state because gay marr...
I will not win the upcoming tournament on this site.

First let me say that ny position is that I can not win the tournament. With that said, here are my reasons why: 1. I have little experience; a more experienced or smarter debater could eaisly beat me. 2. In debates, I frequently make unwarranted claims and hope something sticks. Most of my arguments are hard to read and pointless. 3. Me han conocido para discutir en espaƱol. 4. There are WAY better debaters than me, and I will likely lose the first round to Logical-Master. 5. Me...
Resolved: That debate.org's 'big issues' should be changed.

The 'big issues' portion on this site should be revamped. I contend this for a few reasons. 1. Take this for example: It asks you, "in favor or against abortion". Obviously they are trying to say pro-life or pro-choice, but that's not what the question asks. I am not IN FAVOR of getting abortions; I don't want everyone to go out and have one, I just think its a person's choice. So, we are left confused about how we should answer, not only in that area, but others as well. 2. It doesn't...
Resolved: The Angry Video Game Nerd is better than the Irate Gamer.

I believe AVGN is better than the Irate Gamer. I define 'better' as- 'of superior quality.' I will seek to explain why AVGN is better than Irate by looking at a few areas of analysis. 1. Irate is not better because he simply copies the AVGN. The Irate Gamer joined Youtube 8 months after AVGN, and built his channel and videos exactly like the AVGN. They review several of the same games, each one of which AVGN reviewed first. Irate even goes as far as to copy exact dialogue from AVGN in 'Teenag...

curb your enthusiasm is better than Seinfeld

I believe curb your enthusiasm is the greatest show in the history of television, but that is not the topic of this debate. Instead, I'm arguing that it is better than Larry David's other show, Seinfeld. This is a two-round debate. Here are the reasons curb your enthusiasm is superior to its more-popular cousin: 1. Larry David is awesome and Jerry Seinfeld is annoying and lame: Larry David was the brains behind the Seinfeld show. The character of "Jerry" is actually a composite of the real...
Four Square is the best playground pastime

Ah, yes, the school playground. An ongoing display of asphalt and gravel that seems to stretch for miles and miles. Blissful schoolchildren running every which way, making the best of their break from the torture chamber that is the classroom. The pucker-faced recess monitors in orange vests that blow whistles and chastise troublemakers. These are just a few of the sights one can see when at the school playground. Let's take a look at some of the activities one can participate in at the playgrou...
Resolved: Teachers should address students as "Mister/Sir" and "Miss/Misses."

Addressing a person as Mister would be beneficial. Calling someone a proper name is much more professional than if a teacher addresses a student by their first name, even though they are not on a first name basis. Calling someone a name with respect would make that person feel better and more important. From personal experience, I don't like it when teachers call me by just my last name. This sounds like its coming from some bully or a guy I don't like. Calling students by first name has beco...
