Same-sex unions should not be federally recognized as marriage.

Pluto2493

My observations... 1. Aff has the burden of proof 2. Aff must prove that federally-recognized same-sex marriages ought never be allowed My arguments... 1. Homosexuality is natural and homosexuals, being humans, deserve equality 2. In a truly free society all individuals must be equal 3. For true equality everyone must be treated in the same manner and granted the same rights 4. Same-sex marriage is a right necessitated by any free society Thank you, I look forward to friendly debate....

Mobile Phone Confirmation?

Pluto2493
DucoNihilum

This is more of a question than a debate. Why does the site make you give your phone number to access certain features? Which features are they? I am against the mobile phone confirmation. CONTENTION I: I don't have a cell phone....

ATTENTION: This is intended to be a Policy Debate for the 2008-2009 topic. Thanks and good luck to my opponent… Round 1/2: Constructives Round 3/4: Rebuttals I affirm: Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase alternative energy incentives in the United States. Resolutional Analysis: The resolution specifies that ONLY incentives need to be "substantially increased" for the affirmative. Certainly the debate can talk about these effects (good and bad...

10. While under moral conflict, increasing benefits ought to be preferred to decreasing costs.

Pluto2493

This is a debate for the Debate.org/Facebook tournament, Round 4, #10, to be judged by Jayant Tripathy, Danielle Limberg, and Drew Slagle. I wish my opponent luck. First, I'd like to define some key terms. Moral- of, pertaining to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong; ethical. Conflict- to come into collision or disagreement; be contradictory, at variance, or in opposition; clash. Increasing- to become larger or gr...

Yraelz should delete his debate.org account.

Yraelz
Pluto2493

And why not? This will of course be my 100th debate, and I will as far as my knowledge goes be the first debater to have ever achieved so many debates on this website. Followed by dairygirl4u2c, having 99 debates. Thus as it is my desire to delete my debate.org account, the best thing to do having debated 100 debates would be to celebrate by doing something I desire. Therefor I should delete my debate.org account. Who cares to stand in opposition?...

To be decided during the debate

Kleptin
Pluto2493

This will be a three round debate. The debate will work in this manner: 1A: First Post Instigator: This explanatory post. 1B: First Post Contender: Contender suggests a list of 3 topics, phrased in valid format (ie. not in question format) Topics should be legitimate, and varied. 2A: Second Post Instigator: Instigator responds with his choice of the three. 2B: Second Post Contender: Contender then chooses a position on that issue and has the choice of whether to go first or se...

Resolved: Debate.org should feature a catagory of debate called 'debate.org'

Pluto2493
beem0r

To make this perfectly clear, the catagories I am talking about are under the 'debate' tab at the top of your screen. The catagories currently are: All Arts Business Education Entertainment Health News Politics Regional Science Sports Technology There are few reasons why this should be added. 1. There are numerous amounts of debates on this site, about this site, but there is no clear place to put these debates. It would be clear where to put it, and would not create any confus...

Resolved: That debate.org's 'big issues' should be changed.

Pluto2493
Higgins

The 'big issues' portion on this site should be revamped. I contend this for a few reasons. 1. Take this for example: It asks you, "in favor or against abortion". Obviously they are trying to say pro-life or pro-choice, but that's not what the question asks. I am not IN FAVOR of getting abortions; I don't want everyone to go out and have one, I just think its a person's choice. So, we are left confused about how we should answer, not only in that area, but others as well. 2. It doesn't...

Resolved: The Angry Video Game Nerd is better than the Irate Gamer.

Pluto2493
SportsGuru

I believe AVGN is better than the Irate Gamer. I define 'better' as- 'of superior quality.' I will seek to explain why AVGN is better than Irate by looking at a few areas of analysis. 1. Irate is not better because he simply copies the AVGN. The Irate Gamer joined Youtube 8 months after AVGN, and built his channel and videos exactly like the AVGN. They review several of the same games, each one of which AVGN reviewed first. Irate even goes as far as to copy exact dialogue from AVGN in 'Teenag...
