When people are talking about morality, they are attempting to convince someone to take or not to take an action (and when they are thinking about it, deciding whether to take an action). Advocating something makes no sense if you do not wish to achieve something by it....
There is no Reason to be "Good"

I am arguing that there is no ultimate reason behind morality like there is behind things of science. Thus, I am also assuming that there are no moral truths, or no a priori morality, so no guideline or ideal to which we might compare ourselves. So take note, I don't mean that there IS a reason to be BAD, I just titled the debate to imply a hopeless lack of morality in our world, or reason for morality, rather. "Good"--describing action or deliberation that is compassionate or done towards t...

If Logical-Master answers all of his opponent's questions, he probably won't contradict himself

I reserve the right to dispute the contender's rendering of the topic should I feel it doesn't meet the ideas of what the debate is intended for. ....
Water Boarding is an act of torture and is immoral.

I affirm the resolution : Water Boarding is an act of torture and is immoral. I consider myself an open minded person yet I am always shocked when glancing at people's profiles on this site when I see people saying they are pro-water boarding. This is especially true if their other opinions do not seem particularly extreme. I would appreciate if somebody who is pro-water boarding would like to take me up on this debate. If nobody does so, I will be forced to conclude that most of these ind...
90% of the British public should back my plans for a socialist revolution

Look out all you aristocrats, members of the landed gentry and mega-rich tycoons, sitting there in your stately homes, manor houses and palatial penthouses – your days of lording it over the proletariat are numbered. The oppressed masses from the working classes will soon unite with the lower and upper-middle classes and, under my leadership, rise up and overthrow your feudalistic reign of patronage and privilege. But don't press the panic button MI5, this transition of power will be a peacef...
Slavery and oppression of blacks violates the same moral rules as oppression of businessmen

This debate is regarding RR's stated position that what he considers oppression of businessmen somehow compares rationally to the slavery and systematic historical oppression of blacks in America. He has asked that we use the definition "violates the same moral rules". I will accept that definition, but my arguments in R1 will stand. He has made the following comparisons stating that both have been: 1. Stripped of their culture 2. Robbed from their homes 3. Separated from their children...
