Scientific theories should require the ability to be falsified.

RoyLatham
SubterFugitive

Falsifiability has long been held as a criteria for a validly conceived scientific theory. In this debate I will defend this criteria, and Con will argue that falsifiability is not a necessary criteria for a valid scientific theory. Science is defined asknowledge about or study of the natural world based...

The minimum wage should not be raised to $15/hr for fast food workers

RoyLatham
TheHitchslap

Unions recently staged protests demanding that McDonald's in the U.S. should be required to pay workers a minimum of $15 per hour. An ABC News report provides some background on the issue [1. http://abcnews.go.com/ABC_Univision/News/fast-food-workers-demand-pay/story?id=20235304]. While McDonald's was the focus of the demonstrations, a law cannot target just one fast food company. If that were legal, other chains might get most of the business, McDonald's w...

Guns should be legal for home defense in the U.S.

RoyLatham
Wocambs

The status quo is that in every state guns are now legal for home defense, and the Supreme Court has upheld the right of using guns for self-defense of the home. I will argue that the legality should be maintained. My opponent will argue that the Constitution should be changed, if required, and laws passed to prohibit the use of guns for self-defense in the home.

LaL36
RoyLatham

Just to be clear for all the athiests this is not a debate about relgion. I know athiests worship the Big Bang but please give me a chance. I'd like to thank my opponent in advance. The splitting of the sea is the one that occurred in the Bible. And the Big Bang is defined as a theory that the world orginated billions of years ago from an explosion at a single point. First round is for acceptance. I am not a fan of limiting the debate but please accept if you are committed. First round is for...

Progressive Creationism vs Darwinian Evolution

kenballer
RoyLatham

Progressive Creationism: a combination between Intelligent design theory and the old creation model discarded in the mid 20 century that is much more aligned with science via evolutionary theory. So to everyone out there don't assume that this will be the same arguments presented by mainstream creationists. Darwinian Evolution: a philosophical extension to the scientific theory of evolution. It is the idea that evolution is an unguided process or a only natural process where there is no ultim...
