About Me:I'm a psychology student majoring in neuroscience and biomedicine. My aim is to become qualified in diagnosing people with the mental issues they apparently have. In pursuit of practicing this, I am here on DDO.
Activities:I play the Piano, Trombone, Trumpet and guitar. I've previously played Bari Saxophone, French horn and tuba. I compose sheet music using Sibelius 7 and electronic music using Fl studio. In my spare time I play for a rock band, brass band, jpop band and stage band. I also adjudicate IRL debates around Melbourne for competitive debate tourneys.
Beliefs:I believe in science, and not much else.
Books:I used to read crap tonnes of fiction books. If it's a good fiction book or by a prolific author, I've probably read it. Favorite book is probably Ender's Game, with Ciaphas Cain a close second. Nowadays I'm more interested in manga, as it takes far less time to read.
Movies:I don't watch movies, but I used to watch anime, back when I had this thing called time. Code Geass, Steins;gate, Soul Eater, Angel beats and Akame ga Kill make my list of favourites.
Music:I like most music. Except for especially filthy music which doesn't contain any discernible notes. I like to perform Jazz on brass instruments, classical on piano, and rock on everything else. I also compose and produce my own music, which caters to my personal palette. My two favourite pieces are Prelude in G Minor by Rachmaninoff, and fantasie impromptu by Chopin. Modern bands I like include 3 days grace, Thousand Foot Krutch, Starset and bands of that style.
Quotes:Give a man a match, and he'll be warm for a minute, but set him on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.

Solipsism is entailed by logical extension of Idealism

Definitions1) Solipsism: The self is the only existing entity.2) Idealism: The only reality that exists is a mental reality, ie. no physical reality.3) Entailed by logical extension: followed to it's natural consequence.I've chosen these definitions to reflect common usage of the terms, technicalities will not be entertained. In this debate I will show why an extension of Idealism's premises entails Solipsism. Con will argue the opposite.FormatAsian Parliamentary style: Affirmative case begins,...

Music Composition Contest

Smithereens
Beginner

Introduction This debate is a competition of music compositional skills. Here I intend to isolate technical acuity of the composition as a key area of the debate. To this end, I desire that voters on this debate use the following criterion to distribute points in a weighted fashion:VotingS/G (1 point): Subjective desirability -Which composer created pieces that were, overall, more enjoyable to listen to?Conduct (1 point): Which composer had superior thematic relevance? Arguments (3 point...

Should phones be allowed to be uses at schools?

PonyGirl
Smithereens

I am challenging my opponent with a topic about phones being used at school. I hope I do well on this debate. I think that phones should be allowed to be used at school because, if students need help with arithemic and the teacher is not there, they can swap out there phone and use their calculator. And what if there was an emergency in the room but there was no phone, they could also take out their phone o call for help....
