Our greatest taboo should be permitted for investigation and debate

MassDebater69
bluesteel

This debate will be about whether or not there is significant justification for free speech and inquiry pertaining to a particular historical event. Of the various taboos present in Western and European society, discussion of the Holocaust is often regarded as the most significant. It being part of the curriculum for nearly every school in America and abroad, it is no wonder why this event has such a major impact on us, particularly when we hear details of the oppression that occurred during...

Homosexuality with a twist

aero36
bluesteel

The argument of homosexuality is always Con using religion and pro using every thing else. In this the Pro side may only use religion (specifically Christianity) and the Con, I, cannot use religion at all. This is homosexuality in general, 8000 words, so its not specific, just themed with 4 rounds, and this first round as Acceptance. Be as broad as you like in which aspect you take up, I am currently looking into homosexuality in marriage in correlation to the current American debate and also ho...

The God Hypothesis is a supported Scientific explanation

kenballer
bluesteel

First Round is for acceptance of this only Understand that my approach is suppose to be of a scientist using the scientific method not a philosopher like William Lane Craig and other debaters attempt to do, So its a little bit different. I expect CON to debate and argue under this context. This means my opponent will have to try and show how my hypothesis does not fit the data. Then, falsify it using the experiments I devised and that I suggested would falsify my hypothesis. I am arguing t...

The United States should adopt Instant Runoff Voting.

Mrihearvoices
bluesteel

The US should switch their voting system from First Past the Post to the Alternative Vote, or Instant Runoff Voting. This would help people to elect who they really want, not who they think has the best chance. Let me give you an example. Here's what happens under our current system: Say you go to vote on Election Day. You REALLY like the Libertarian candidate and agree with them completely. But you know that only the Republican and Democratic candidates have a chance at winning. So instead of...

Was the Coalition justified in invading Iraq in the year 2003?

Chelicerae
bluesteel

I would like to argue that the Coalition intervention in Iraq was justified. In my opening statements, I will present several arguments that I feel are good justification for the invasion of Iraq war. Argument One: Was it a good idea to trust Saddam on the status of his WMD? First off, I wish to state that I do not believe Iraq had MWD. However, I contend that it would be irresponsible not to. In the year 1998, Saddam kicked out all the inspectors. Then, we knew he had WMD, as we were ther...
