First round is acceptance.
Do not throw your reasoning at me. I just want you to state you accept this debate.
I am taking the "Con" side of this argument.
Good luck.

Thank you for agreeing. I would like to state acceptance is simply traditional, and please don't refer to me as "m8", as it shows bad spelling and I am not your "m8", and in fact I am your opponent.

Let's start out with this analogy.
You have 12 sodas.
You want to divide those 12 sodas amongst three friends.
12/3 = 4, so each person gets four sodas.

Now let's try it in this case:
You have 12 sodas, and you want to divide those sodas amongst zero friends.
12/0 = undefined, since you cannot divide sodas (or any object, for that matter) amongst zero people.
You can split 0 sodas amongst 12 people and get 0.
However, you cannot split 12 sodas amongst 0 people and get 12. You (the one dividing) are not a part of the problem. You do not still have the sodas, because you are trying to divide them amongst the people. You cannot divide 12 sodas amongst zero people. 12/0 = undefined.

Looking forward to opponent's argument.

okay I divide the 12 sodas by no friends, they are still on my table, but according to you the disappear, how is that? who is drinking them

Con

"okay I divide the 12 sodas by no friends, they are still on my table, but according to you the disappear, how is that? who is drinking them"

Apparently opponent totally neglects what I stated in the previous round. I had explicitly stated:
"However, you cannot split 12 sodas amongst 0 people and get 12. You (the one dividing) are not a part of the problem. You do not still have the sodas, because you are trying to divide them amongst the people. You cannot divide 12 sodas amongst zero people. 12/0 = undefined."

This sentence counter's opponent's sentence. No, they don't disappear, they just aren't divisible amongst 0 people. Therefore 12 sodas divided amongst 0 people is an undefined answer.

Opponent still has nothing for his argument, and I still have all of my other reasons. So opponent has contributed literally nothing this round except text, his time, and his (wasted) effort.

Good luck in the next argument.

no you don't understand.. if I have 12 sodas on a table, and I share them with no people, they are still on the table

something can never become nothing, that would be destruction, and matter can only transform, 1 can never become 0, as they are opposites

Reasons for voting decision: It would seem Pro is not aware of basic mathematics. Con showed how 12 sodas CANNOT be divided among 12 people (yourself NOT included) Which is accurate. If you are REQUIRED to give away 12 sodas, but no one is willing to take them, your requirement has failed (or the problem cannot be completed) AKA undefined. The sodas do not disappear, nor are they destroyed, the objective of dividing the sodas cannot be completed as there are no recipients of them. Dividing by Zero is disallowed as it is not possible to yield an answer.

Reasons for voting decision: Pro argues "If you divide 12 sodas among 0 people, then you still have 12 sodas." To put this in terms of mathematics, pro argues 12/1=12, which is true (the 1 being the "you" in his argument). Therefore, pro is just being silly and not properly understanding maths. Also, you spell it "mate" not "m8."

Reasons for voting decision: Pro seemed to be arguing the con position and completely ignoring con's arguments. He also misspelled the word mate.

Reasons for voting decision: pro cleverly manipulated the resolution, defining what "divide" means while using con's example against him. Con almost won out, had he said "mathematically" he would have won, but pro has a point in that he "divides" 12 sodas among zero people and the 12 sodas are still there. Thus pro very, very narrowly wins. He should think more carefully before challenging a truism.
