Abortion

scissorhands7
Puck

[Definitions] For clarity I pose the following definitions. Trimester: 3 months Conception: meeting of the sperm and egg [Contention] I hereby propose illegalizing abortion after the 21st day of conception except to save a woman's life, or in the case of rape or incest. [Reasons] 1. On the 21st day after conception the fetal heart starts to beat and most major organs are functioning. The common law definition of death is the stoppage of a heartbeat and most functioning organs. Mos...

The existence of God

DiablosChaosBroker
Puck

I affirm that God exists. "The complexity of our planet points to a deliberate Designer who not only created our universe, but sustains it today."(1) The Earth...its size is perfect. The size of the Earth and its corresponding gravity holds an atmosphere of mostly nitrogen and oxygen gases, only extending to about 50 miles of Earth's surface. "It is at a perfect distance from the Sun; not too hot, not too cold."(2) It has the perfect gravity without the difficulty of heavy gravity and lo...

Life has no meaning.

ThebigB
Puck

First to start I offer the following definitions: Life:The animate existence or period of animate existence of an individual.[1]Next the idea of nihilism The idea that life has no meaning. Definition meaning:What is intended to be, or actually is, expressed or indicated; signification; import.[2] "A man finds himself, to his great astonishment, suddenly existing, after thousands and thousands of years of non-existence. He lives for a little while and then again comes an equally long period when...

I exist in this world as more than a consciousness.

blackhawk1331
Puck

This is simple enough. I am con in support that I don't exist in this world as more then a consciousness. Pro must prove that I exist in this world as a physical being beyond all reasonable doubt. All I have to do is keep reasonable doubt that I don't exist. No closing statements will be necessary in this debate, and they are just a waste of characters. Good luck to whomever accepts this debate....

If Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny were in a brawl who would win I say the Bunny

Witty11
Puck

The Easter Bunny is the better choice for many reasons the first being that the Easter Bunny can throw eggs and Santa can't. Also the Easter Bunny has an army of rabbits that is so massive that it would out number elves 7 to 1 and they have teeth so the elves are kinda screwed. Also Bunnies are faster than fat men in red suits and midgets with short legs....

A duplicate of you is not you.

Artifice
Puck

I'd like to thank my opponent in advance for accepting this debate. May I be proved wrong, or, may teleportation never be a possible, viable technology to be used in the future (ie: may it not be invented). Firstly, I'd like to delineate the parameters of this thought experiment and philosophical conundrum for the purpose of clarifying my position. The premises are simple: A duplicate of you is not you. I am not arguing whether or not teleportation is possible or even feasible as a technol...

Atheism is a System of Argumentation

vbaculum
Puck

I will argue that the only logical use of the word "atheism" is to refer to a system of argumentation. This proposal has the necessary implications that the word "atheist" should only be used to refer to people who, in one way or another, engage in this system of argumentation. I will also attempt to discredit the notions that atheism can be used to refer to anything else. First I will clarify what I think atheism truly refers to in English then I will argue what I think it isn't. I will...

Zoo's should be banned

eieiobum
Puck

Animals are born to be wild Hello and welcome to this debate. The topic of this debate is that zoo's should be banned. I as the pro side of this debate strongly agree with this topic. The arguments that i will be putting forward today are that. 1. animals weren't created to be put in zoo's, there weren't zoos 300 years ago and wildlife was great! 2. animals can take care of themselves more than a completely different species...

Deadliest Warrior: Samurai vs. Ninja...the ninja would have really won in a real life scenario.

James.ticknor
Puck

I found this interesting when I watched the show. This show can teach us a lot about different cultures. Okay, now to begin the debate! The simulation developed by Slitheren Studios (Copied from Harry Potter???) is designed for a head on battle between two said warriors. This is a battle to the death, should we not be mislead. This brings me to my first point. Point 1: Stealth vs. Open Combat Contrast The Samurai is a bodyguard, more or less. Trained to identify suspicious or abnormal be...
