Psychiatrist vs Psychologist [?]

BlurtItOUT
tuxagon

OK, Psychiatrist is the one who's specializing in diagnosis and treatment for mental illness. Meanwhile, Psychologist deals with diagnosing and treating diseases of the brain, emotional disturbance, and behavior problems. Which is, both of them deals with people who has mental illnesses. But, what is the BIG difference? And, which is better? For me, I guess I'll go for Psychologist. Pick any of the two, defend your answer. Gracias! xo...

Should depression be treated as seriously as physical ailments?

StormySkies
gabesnyds

I'm starting this debate again, since Aerogant's account was closed so he can no longer bother me. In many schools, depression and other mental illness are not treated as seriously as physical sickness and injury (such as the flu, or a broken leg). Despite the level of depression or anxiety a student is having, they are still obligated to go to school, which can be seriously detrimental to the mental health, and eventually even physically unhealthy. The same can go for adults as well, when...

"unlimited paradox" - an ever present unlimited force does not exist

dairygirl4u2c

"unlimited paradox" - an ever present unlimited force does not exist. in another matter of speaking i am saying "the unlimited does not exist" can the unlimited limit itself? if not, it is not unlimited. if so, it is not unlimited. also, reality as far as we know it indicates that anything that might be 'unlimited' is limited by the laws of logic, as far as we know. thus, we can see by probing a few questions about what it means to be unlimited, that it does not really exist, at least i...

An Omniscient God and Human Free Will are Incompatible

xXCryptoXx

FrameworkThis is a debate about God, and the concept of foreknowledge and how it relates to free will. I will be defending that free will and omniscience are compatible, that is that they can both exist without contradiction. My opponent will be arguing they are incompatible, that is that they cannot both exist without contradiction. My opponent will have the burden of proof in this debate since he is...

Dinosaurs Lived With People

GarretKadeDupre
TruthHurts

I will be arguing that live dinosaurs existed at the same time humans did. I may use the term dinosaur interchangeably with mesosaur or pterosaur. I do not mean birds; that would be abusive use of the term. Voters should exercise their discretion when deciding if my use of the term dinosaur or human becomes abusive.

single payer health care is better than our current health care system

linate

The right single payer system would cover everyone, while yielding better results, and saving money. BETTER RESULTS WHILE SAVING MONEY: we spend more per capita, and get less health care results back... than any other country in the world: http://cthealth.server101.com/the_case_for_universal_health_care_in_the_united_states.htm -we spend 17% of our GDP on healthcare, while single payer countries spend 10%. that 7% represents a lot of money, a trillion dollars. -the savings come from a dec...

Economic Understanding should be Acquired Before Exercising Union/Voting Powers

wxyz2000

The topic simply means that people should have a basic understanding of economics and basic proficiency in financial literacy before being able to exercise voting and union powers. I am not going to argue about whether or not such an option is implementable, but only whether or not it should. By "basic proficiency" I mean that people should know how to compound interest, what government debt and deficit is, how a bank works, how a credit card works, etc. Things we will encounter in our daily liv...
