Religion is bad

alias_anubis3000
Defenestrator

Any social construct that promotes and exalts willful ignorance puts its members in a reproductive disadvantage to the rest of humanity. Mankind's want for religion should have faded out of our cultures a long time ago with the rise of modern science and the scientific revolution. For most of the religions of the bronze and iron age this was the case. Unfortunately when it comes to established religions the opposite has occurred. In these religions the idea of faith, the act of canceling reason...

American Muslims and politics

NerdyySnipz
Gileandos

I feel that the interests of American Muslims are better and more immediately served by American Muslim participation in grassroots movements and local politics rather than politics on the state or national level....

Children should not be allowed to be taught religion is true

JamieKerr
Heineken

I thank anybody who is willing to take part in this debate. Firstly I make it clear that children should not be taught it is untrue either. Simply say, "Some people believe this and some people don't" I believe any form of telling your children that your opinions are true in pure indoctrination. I also believe it can lead to bigotry, as I have seen through many instances of Gays being excluded and Jews being told to go to hell....

roman catholic church has never contradicted itself

dairygirl4u2c
JohnnyBadNews666

in this debate, i am not counting the issues of limbo, or "no salvation outside the catholic church". you would think if the catholic church were not true, that it would have contradicted itself at some point in two thousand years. the only things that count are statements that are authoritative, things that could be considerted "infallible". the pope, intentionally, teaches, the church, on faith and morals. that is the criteria. it includes many councils and other statements by popes....

Are Apparitions Of The Virgin Mary A Deception?

supershamu
1970vu

In this debate I would like to discuss the topic of Marian apparitions. I will be taking the stance of Pro for the debate and will be suggesting that these encounters with the virgin Mary after her death are in fact a deception and not from Jesus or his mother. Format for the debate is as follows: -Round 1: Acceptance and insults -Round 2: Opening arguments and apologies -Round 3: Rebuttals and closing statement I would like to thank everyone reading for their time and I hope we can...

Christians and Atheists should be friends.

UndyingHarmony
Ja50n

Christians and atheist should stop fighting. I mean all you guys fight about is religion compared to evolution, Science compared to the bible, How God is fake, How Atheists will burn in hell, Why God lets bad happens to good people, stuff like that. I respect Atheists as who they are. Same with us Christians. It's just tiring to see the same people fight about the same thing over and over again. Can't we just all agree in one subject? As a pro, I will make this debate friendly to all read...

The Best London Underground Line

Tube
Mimshot

This debate is about which Tube line is the best. I consider any of the following a "Tube line": Bakerloo, Central, Hammersmith & City, Jubilee, Metropolitan, Circle, District, Piccadilly, Northern, Victoria. In general, I do not consider the Waterloo & City or the Docklands Light Railway a choice for this debate, but if the person accepting this debate feels very passionately about one of those and wishes to argue in favour of it, I will not object. Rules: 1. I request that both sides ref...
