bible is not clear if we are justified by faith alone or if works are required in justification

dairygirl4u2c
Cutiepuffle

to lay the best examples of the ambiguity, we have two apparently conflicting versions of the story of abraham and his justification. james 2 20You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is uselessd ? 21Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Ab...

There is no god

Fac7
Benshapiro

Ancient humans felt the need to explain the world around them, they had no explanation, that's why they created "gods". The wrath of Zeus used to explain why we have thunder, for instance... Now we have science, that explains most of life's events, and in the end, we realized we don't need a god to create the things we see and experience everyday in our lives....

Cunfusion of religion.

2manyproblems
behindblueeyes

Everyone in it's own matter contridicts the Bible in some form. No matter how strong you feel about it or not. Dont believe me? Just ask someone how they think Jesus got here. The Bible says that Virgin Mary gave birth to him that would be the Cristian religion. But some "Chritstians" say that he has always been there. Which is the Catholic religion. I think everyone in the right mind is confused about religion. Personally I am Agnostic, which means I dont believe in God, yet I dont disbe...

The Bible teaches that water baptism is for - to obtain - the remission of sins.

annanicole

I'll try this a 4th time: the last 3 negative disputants made very little attempt to negate. The proposition is shortened due to space contraints, and should read, "The New Testament teaches that water baptism is, to a penitent believer, for - to obtain - the remission of past sins." To avoid any confusion, I'll define the terms: Bible or New Testament: the 66 or 27 books in the Protestant Bible. Since Christian baptism is a New Testament proposition, the 27 books therein contained are meant....

Should God Exist?

Your_Conscience
Skynet

This round is a confirmation round. This argument is assuming that God exists, and elaborating from that, specifically, whether of not the actions of God are actually good, or rather done by a corrupted being. Both Pro and Con should look at the hypothetical God, and the events on Earth that could correspond with said God. In shorter terms, both should look at the perfect concept of God, and what it translates to in real events....

can there be evil in a world that there is also a single, all knowing, all loving God?

dyxtj
vi_spex

I would like to say that I believe that in a world created by a God which you described (the God of the Christian faith I am assuming) could indeed have evil in it. I would start my argument with a question (although I know that is uncustomary, that is how I would like to do this). If there were no darkness at night, how would you know that you were looking at the light in the day? if there were no shadows, you would be blind. This is a fitting analogy for this debate. It is necessary for there...
