Global Warming Exists (2)

I am doing this topic again, for a longer voting period and to try some features of the site. Global Warming: the rise in the average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans since the late 19th century[1] The graph at [2] shows that the Earth is warming. Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, the burning of fossil fuels has contributed to the increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere from 280 ppm to 397 ppm. [3] Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas. Also, some other...

Rules: 1. This debate will be on science: Were leaving out politics and scientific consensus. No Al Gore or Oregon Petition please. 2. Understand the mechanics of Global Warming Have a basic understanding of the science before accepting this challenge. Like I said before, quotes won't cut it here. We need good scientific arguments. 3. Prove me wrong, not my credibility Don't ignore my arguments and say 'You don't have enough evidence, therefore I don't have to respond' Whether...

ODT: Global Warming Has an Anthropogenic Cause

Ron-Paul
nerdykiller

This is for the Offical DDO Tournament I. Full Resolution: Global warming has an anthropogenic cause. We are NOT debating whether it exists, but rather if it has an anthropogenic cause to its existance. Definitions: Global Warming: "Global warming is the rise in the average temperature of Earth's atmosphere and oceans since the late 19th century, and its projected continuation."[1] Anthropogenic: "Caused or produced by humans."[2] Cause: "A person or thing that acts, happ...

Global Warming is caused by humans

discobabyangel1

First off, I would like to thank my opponent. Good luck. I only have two points at the moment. So here they are: (1) Earth's mean surface temperature has increased about 1.2 degrees Fahrenheit. Scientist are more than 90% certain that human activities' such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation, is the primary cause of increases of the greenhouse effect. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) indicates that the global surface temperature is likely to rise a lowest of 2 to...

Anthropogenic Global Warming Denial

This is an exhibition debate. Do not vote on this debate.

The reality of anthropogenic global warming stands in opposition with the notions of un- or under-restricted capitalism and industrial freedoms, a core component of right-wing and strict libertarian ideology. This is reflected in the 2012 Republican Presidential Primary: except for Huntsman, all Iowa Caucus candidates deny AGW, or at least express skepticism about it. (Romney accepted AGW in June of...

man made global warming was probably having a significant impact on our environment

detractors from MMGW man made global warming, who say it's not ssignificant, and only a hoax, usually rely on sun flares and volanoes. if you don't know what i'm tlaking about, then don't debate me. essential facts. one is that studies have shown that the sun cycles have accounted for only a third of the warming that's occurred. the other is that the volcano theorists have never cited sources. the other is that they think 1.5 or so degrees is all that can really be attributed to ma...

Global Warming will not destroy Earth, and should not be so quickly acted against.

believer_720

Alright. I'm going to start by wishing whoever my opponent may be, good luck. There are many reasons Global Warming should not be so quickly acted against. The main base of my argument will beneficial. Yes, that does sound a bit crazy, but allow me to explain. The last time a warming of the Earth's climate happened was around the Medieval times. This is also known as the Little Climate Optimum. Here, the world was much warmer, and civilizations thrived. Winters were shorter, and less harsh...

Well I believe that global warming is real because the temperature is steadily rising and the world won't believe that. Car emitting amounts of CO2 gas in the world. Human activities are the main cause global warming.

First off, I'd like to thank my opponent for joining this debate and wish them best of luck to them now to clarify a few definitions: (merriam-webster) human- of, relating to, or characteristic of humans activities- the quality or state of being active (in this case, pollution and burning of fossil fuels) main- primary cause- a reason for an action or condition global warming- an increase in the earth's atmospheric and oceanic temperatures widely predicted to occur due to an increase in...

Is Global Warming man made and Can we stop it?

bullslapper
stand4something

Do you believe in Global Warming? I do. But I do not think we can stop it. We know emissions of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide are increasing. These green house gases trap heat in earth's atmosphere and thus result in increasing the temperature of earth. The only one we are trying to reduce is carbon dioxide why? Methane produces three times the heat that carbon dioxide does. Why not decrease methane too? Animals and humans produce methane. You just know that...
