The Death Penalty Should Be Used In Certain Cases

mongoose
mongeese

Resolved: The death penalty should be used in certain cases There are many cases in which the death penalty is just and should be used. For example, if a man is proven that, without a doubt, he killed another man, that murderer should be killed. While it would be profitable to use the people in prison to do labor, the prisoner should at least be given the option between death and working in prison for the rest of his life. Ok, so lately at school we've been covering capital punishment (the death penalty), but we haven't really gone into a debate whether it is a good thing or not. So, I'd like to discuss this topic before I take part in a class debate, so that way I will be ready. Rules: No trolling or foul language. Round 1- Acceptance only Rounds 2/3- The battle begins. I would like to take this opportunity to wish my opponent good luck :)...

The Death Penalty

I am arguing that the death penalty should be abolished. The death penalty has been used since ancient history. Since then, the justice system has improved but it can not be perfect. Many a time the death penalty has resulted in false execution. Another problem is that juries are less willing to convict if they know the suspect will die, leading to the release of the actual criminal. It also costs more and is morally wrong....

The death penalty can also help provide closure for the victim's family and friends, who will no longer have to fear the return of this criminal into society. They will not have to worry about parole or the chance of escape, and will thus be able to achieve a greater degree of closure. Mary Heidcamp, a Chicago woman whose mother's killer faced the death penalty before the State Governor commuted the sentences to life in prison, stated 'we were looking forward to the death penalty. I'm just so d...
