The death penalty should be abolished

republicofdhar
Mopi

Welcome, Mopi! I chanced upon one of your previous debates and I felt that your opponent missed out on several points of importance. For that reason, I would like to invite you to a debate on this topic, with you taking the same position of abolition of the law, that you had taken the previous time. The structure of the debate would be as follows: Round 1 - Acceptance Round 2 - Opening Arguments Round 3 - Rebuttals and Counter-Arguments Round 4 - Defence of Opening Arguments Round 5 -...

I think the death penalty should be illegal, what right does the government have to take away someone life. Two wrong don't make a right. Disagree with me if I'm wrong....

The Death Penalty

Mister_Man

First round whatever you want, open with your own arguments. I saw some people discussing this earlier and thought someone would at least consider trying to change my mind. I think the death penalty, or capital punishment, should not exist. Pro will obviously be arguing to keep the death penalty where it is already in place, or implement it in more regions. Please no semantics. Good luck!...

Should the Death Penalty Exist?

aaronjames.fortson
justin.graves

Should the death penalty be allowed or exist to begin with? In my opinion, I believe it should NOT exist, and should be abolished immediately. Having the worldview that I have, I think the death penalty is murder, and people who say it isn't, and that it is justice for the victims and the hurt, I think are only justifying their own evils. No matter how you look at it, when you have someone's life in your hands, and you intentionally let them die on your own accord, because you wanted them to, it...

Is the death penalty cruel?

MeargleSchmeargle

Capital punishment. It is the ultimate price for a crime. It is a sentence to be used on the most henious of crimes. Many however will argue that the death penalty is a cruel and unusual punishment in violation to our 8th amendment. I am here to make the fact plain that the death penalty is a necessary function of the legal system.Rules:No forfeitsNo trollingSource citations requiredFirst round is acceptance2nd round is opening statement3rd an...

The death penalty should be abolished

I am pleased to be debating Clinton Wilcox. I challenge him to a debate on whether or not the death penalty should be abolished. I am going to make the case that it should based on two main reasons. 1. The Death Penalty has killed innocent people and will always carry that possibility. Since 1973 there have been 138 exonerations of people on death row. Now admittedly this is small number, however it still brings up an ethical question about the death penalty. "Is killing the guilty wor...

Death Penalty

You say imprisonment is the best route to take, but the death penalty is for INHUMANE crimes. I'm sorry but if it is unjustly to be put to death for murdering, raping, spying, terrorizing; how are those not inhumane as well? Also in prison, prisoners can access books, television, calling and visiting their loved ones, better health coverage than most unemployed Americans and three meals a day. Yes, what a punishment that is....
