Gay marriage should be legal

Chrislove
chezbona

I believe gay marriage should be legal because everyone is human regardless of sexuality. The only argument people use is religion but Jesus taught love and acceptance not hate and discrimination. So if this is true that people hate gays because of religion, you are going against the words of Jesus Christ. If being gay was a choice why would someone choose to be hated and discriminated against. No one wants to be put down. Love is a beautiful and a powerful thing. Shouldn't we embrace it, not ma...

Should the Bible be used in arguments involving political issues such as gay marriage?

ciel
gryephon

I believe that the Bible should not be used in arguments involving political issues such as gay marriage or the transgender rights movement. The book is a religious icon; politics should be kept separate from religious arguments, as stated by Thomas Jefferson himself when he proposed the "separation of church and state". Gay marriage. Good or Bad?

I believe that Gay Marriage is perfectly fine. They are still people and there is not a reason that we should deny them their rights to love each other and marry each other....

Gay marriage should be legal

HailedPanic913

Give me a good reason why it is bad. People deserve marriage just as much as anyone else. How would it feel if gays decided weather heterosexual marriage is illegal or not. How would it feel?...

The Bible and God disagrees with Gay Marriage

JasperFrancisShickadance

1st Round: Opening Arguments 2nd, 3rd, 4th Round: Rebuttals 5th Round: Conclusions I know my opponent is a Christian who -believes in God -believes in the Trinity -believes in the Bible But he is also quite picky about what to take literally, metaphorically, and truthfully in the Bible. His way of "believing" in the Bible is rare and difficult to figure (and I hope he will make his position clear when he posts arguments). I will argue that the Bible contradicts what he believes w...

Gay Marriage

Bruin2006
16kadams

Homosexuals, like heterosexuals, neither chose their sexual orientation, nor should they be denied the same legal rights heterosexuals enjoy simply because they were born different from what is considered "the norm." Every respectable scientific organization in the world, including the American Psychological Association, says that sexual orientation is connected to biological factors and cannot be changed. Just as it is wrong to deny legal rights to blacks, women, and people born left-handed...

Marriage should not be redefined or gay marriage should be illegal

kenballer

In this debate, make sure you include in your argument the following: 1. Show how there is a right to same sex marriage and how traditional marriage laws violate the equal protection clause. 2. Show how having gay marriage is more beneficial then banning it. 3. Show that gay marriage would benefit state interests. Also, you can cut and paste information from other debates you have been in to save your time, if you want. What is CIVIL marriage and the purpose of it: "Sexual unions o...

Gay marriage should be legal in the United States.

Freeman
mongeese

I will be using a dual overlaying teleological/constitutional argument to contend that gay marriage should be legalized in the United States. In this project I will borrow the harm principle, as articulated by John Stewart Mill, to argue that the only reasonable circumstance in which a government can limit a citizen's liberty is to prevent that person from causing harm to others. This view when taken to its logical conclusion would entail the legalization of gay marriage. Contention 1:...

Should Gay Marriage be legalized?

Do you believe that homosexual marriage should be legalized in all 50 states in the US? I am British so I apologize if I have any misconceptions about how the US works but I don't see that really having much relevance here. I am very pro gay marriage and I strongly believe any society that does not have it cannot claim to be egalitarian....

Gay Marriage?

MattAllen

Thank you in advance to whoever accepts this debate. Same-sex couples should be allowed to publicly celebrate their commitment in the same way as heterosexual couples. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation states that many same-sex couples "want the right to legally marry and honor their relationship in the greatest way our society has to offer..." Same-sex couples should have access to the same benefits enjoyed by heterosexual married couples. Many benefits are only available to married...
