There is no objective basis for morality.

AGluttonousAscetic
themightyindividual

I am posting this debate again because this is an issue that I am interested in and I have not yet found satisfactory answers or explanations (the last debate is here: http://www.debate.org/debates/There-is-no-objective-basis-for-morality./1/). My position is that there is not an objective basis for morality; that judging or labeling an action as either moral or immoral is the result of individual belief, or opinion, or preference, or some other non-objective source. For this debate, the...

We shouldn't keep pets.

wg4568

I believe that we, as a species, should not keep pets when we can't even keep our own population alive and healthy. In the year of 2014, U.S.A. citizens spent a total of $58.04 billion on pets. Thats enough money to feed 20152700 people for a year based on a $240 grocery cost per month. Surely, this huge spending on pets would be better put to use looking after our own species, and only then can we begin putting resources towards pets. Aesthetic will be more important than graphical quality in the near future.

ShapelessHorr0r
spikeybuddy

Back when Pac Man released, graphical quality was a huge importance because ground could be covered quickly, but I contend that diminishing returns will take hold in the next few years of gaming. Due to that, companies (Triple A's included) will be forced to focus more on aesthetic rather than graphical quality. In that regard, I ask the con: will aesthetic (the art/look of the game) become more important than graphical achievement (720p, 1080p, 4K, better lighting engines, etc.)? 1st roun...

is human extinction possible if zombies become real?

lord_starscream
mwedwards

I think even if a zombie epidemic happens, human extinction is practically impossible, for no virus can activate at the same time in each country, so if 1 continent falls, 6 would be prepared with cure research and lockdown. No, human extinction is not possible by zombies....

We all know since the start, Obama care wasn't going to work. And still it was brought upon us, the American people to be forced to join the plan, and lose our doctors! Is it enough? Share your opinion!...

THBT humans are not experiencing (or under threat of) overpopulation

UtherPenguin

Debate Impossible to accept. Read the rules and comment if you want to join debate. I do not plan to open this debate until at least 3 days later. Failure to abide by the format or terms of the debate will result in a loss of conduct during voting stage. If Con finds the terms to be unreasonable or inaccurate then he or she may alter the terms, but only with an argument as to why. Burden of Proof is on both sides. Terms: Overpopulation: Overpopulation is a function of the number of...

Should Compound archery be included in the Olympics?

bradenldavis
FaustianJustice

I think they should include compound archery in the Olympics because shooting a compound bow is nearly as challenging as shooting a recurve bow, and most people that shoot a bow now shoot a compound bow instead of shooting a recurve bow, so limiting the olympics to only a recurve bow is limiting the amount of competitors in the event....
