Sonnet debate

philosphical
Danielle

For anyone who doesn't know what a sonnet is: There are three traditional forms of sonnets, rather there are two and a variant that makes the third and has commonly come to be accepted as a third form. First it is important to point out that a sonnet is a lyric poem with a topic that is of a more romantic bent. The form of a sonnet is in its name which is derived from Italian, sonnet, and Occitan, sonnet, both meaning literally little song. There is the Italian sonnet, and the Shakespea...

Writers debate

philosphical
Vi_Veri

This debate is for any of you book readers, or writers. I felt the need to open this debate in order to expose creativity and entertainment. The point of this debate is for both debaters to write out a short story. The first person will start out the story, with a certain set of characters and a select few settings. In every round the Pro will present a problem in their story. The Con will then continue this same story with the same characters and settings (where rules apply), and fix the pro...

Is traditional art declining?

BlisterzOnMeFingaz
basils

Nobody's got time for going to a gallery or a theater. Reading novels are a hassle, especially if they are not vampires, wizards or based on cliche conspiracy theories. People love themselves some music that requires zero talent to create and lyrics that mean naught. Just watch a movie, it's a combination of all of them and it comes to your home. People are born, they live, and die without feeling anything, without stopping for a minute, and thinking. Don't know about the world but it certainly...

poem debate

ordiwayselene
nonentity

I was cold and hurting lost out in the night wandering and searching for heaven's light I saw the night sky clearing when you spread your rainbow wings But little did I know what joy you would bring From that moment on a friendship did start you kissed away my tears and sheltered my heart I bless the day God sent him from above But then I grew fearful for I had fallen in love I told you this feeling and what did you say? You said you liked our friendship and that's how...

should anime and manga be incorporated into schools?

Razenbran
Duncan

I believe that anime and manga should be incorporated into our schools for the following reasons: 1. Anime has helped me out with depression; now i say this point because there are some middle schools, and high schools that do not have a counselor( my school does not have one.). Anime can both help and teach people. 2. our libraries are being under used, they have hundreds of books and only some of them are actually checked out. Manga is quite popular in the states, and i know at least 100 peo...

Video Games Are An Art Form

Ozymandias_King_of_Kings
missrish001

Are Video Games Art? Roger Ebert famously said that they can never be, yet even though I highly respect him as a film critic, I'm afraid that I must disagree, video games are art, and even though it may be the youngest medium I believe that despite the non-artistic video games (call of duty, wwe, etc.) there are many games that contain artistic merits of complex philosophical storylines (Metal Gear Solid, Shadow of the Colossus), and games that rival emotional impact in films and other medium...
