As you can see, this debate is 5 rounds. In the first round, we will present our ideas on the topic and then in the following 4 rounds we will debate and contradict each other's notions. So if all goes as planned, we will each get a normal 4 rounds to debate. Since I am speaking against the topic and you are in favour, I think you should be starting....

Gay couples should be allowed to adopt children.

Danielle
philosphical

I'll challenge Philosophical to this debate as per his request. Arguments: 1. Homophobia 2. Parenting Trends 3. Orphans 4. Kids with Gay Parents - Feelings 5. Kids with Gay Parents - Statistics 1. Homosexuals are not depraved individuals; being gay is not a mental disorder. As such, they are considered fully functioning members of society. They go to school, go to work, pay taxes, etc. There are no distinct qualifications for becoming a parent; however, most would suggest that a...

Resolved: The United States ought to be considered a 'good' country.

Cody_Franklin
Hunton711

In my profile, under the 'BIG Issues', I have marked Con by 'United States'. I have been challenged on my beliefs, and thus, I feel that I might defend my opponency to the United States as a country. For definitions: ought - implying a binding obligation good - We will be referring to 'good' in a very broad sense - satisfactory, of high quality, excellent, reliable, responsible, competent, skillful. I should clarify before the debate begins; in talking about the United States, I am n...

Nothing is certain

SirLordOliver
MouthWash

My basic argument is that it is impossible to prove anything so as to attain complete and utter certainty. As in, "this thing is 100% fact". I contend that absolutely nothing falls under this description as truth is not objective, but subjective in nature, and therefore does not actually exist and is a social construct. This includes all, even the most rigorous sciences and math fields. I would like to spend much time debating someone about this.I will be shor...

Marriage Rights for LGBT in the US

ConservativeAmerican
teddy2013

I would like to start this debate (providing you accept my challenge), by using bullets to explain my logic, I will not justify it until I know if you are going to accept the debate. Here are my views -I am conservative, meaning I want the gov't to intervene in American's lives as least a possible (While still functioning as a gov't) - Unlike most of my right wing counterparts, I support gay marriage, primarily for the purpose stated above, I may be uncomfortable with it, but it should n...

Homosexuality is as natural as heterosexuality

frozen_eclipse
david.palbino

I will argue that homosexuality is comparatively as natural as heterosexuality. I will ask whoever my opponent is to not use any religious arguments as debate terms due to the fact that the person who uses religious arguments are mostly close minded and will stubbornly defend religious beliefs witch cannot be concluded as conductive arguments but relies on inductive points at best since religion itself is an inductive argument based on probability. My position will be based on philosophical and...

Free Speech on Public Colleges

bsh1
Romanii

IntroRomanii applied to debate me on this topic and on these sides through my "You Choose the Topic" debate challenge. As an interesting bit of trivia, if Romanii accepts this debate, this would be our 7th time debating each other. I think that this topic is particularly interesting and timely, and I look forward to engaging him on the subject. He's an excellent debater, and I look forward to a fun round. In order to ensure quality judging, I have nom...

Police officers must shoot to kill

DrStrangeLuv
Sieben

This debate will involve the following question in its entirety: Police officers, when faced with no alternative to deadly force, must use that force to kill the targeted suspect. Shooting to wound or disarm the suspect is not acceptable. For this debate we will assume: 1) The suspect is threatening the life of the officer or innocents around him. 2) The officer has probable cause that the suspect will try to cause bodily harm to the officer or others. 3) The suspect is armed with a...
