Gay Marriage

emilyrose
Nemat

1. Marriage is a union of love, not a union of genders. 2. Homosexuality is a human characteristic, not a crime. 3. 'Marriage is a human right, not a heterosexual priviledge.' 4. Homosexuals(nor anyone else) are not able to control their feelings or affect to who they fall in love with, so they shouldn't be punished for that. 5. Many people are against Christian values and God, but it isn't illegal to believe in God. As well, many people are against gay rights, so it shouldn't be...

Federal Legalization Of Gay Marriage

LieutenantCrunch
Liberalismisinsanity

Some people say that gay marriage is a states' rights issue. Some say it should be made completely illegal using a constitutional amendment. I say both views are incorrect. As I see it (and how the Supreme Court has ruled in the past), legalizing gay marriage on the federal level is already constitutional and is mandated by the 1st and 14th amendments to the Bill of Rights. Leaving gay marriage to the states or signing laws like the Defense Of Marriage Act into law are blatantly unconstitutional...

Should Gay Marriage be Banned?

negotiator
Deathmonkey7

I believe that gay marriage must be banned. Gay marriage is not necessarily considered a marriage, the reason why it isn't considered a marriage is because it's meant to be for a man and a woman in order for them to raise children together. Same sex marriage will give a bad effect on the child causing him to glean abnormal influences from his guardians. The second reason why gay marriage is meant to be banned, is because it's the violation of natural laws. This implies that gay marriage as w...

Legallizing Gay Marriage Nationally

cyxe1024

I am FOR legallizing Gay Marriage nationally. The rules to this debate are simple. 1) no foul language, 2) when using statistics provide your source(s), & 3) no disrespecting any religions and/or belief systems. I will begin with my first argument. #1: The Constitution - "Separation of Church and State" is a very clear line in the Constitution. Marriage is a legal ceremony acknowledged by the government with benefits the government provides. Laws making it illegal for gays to marry because o...

Gay marriage should be allowed.

Gay marriage. Every one has their opinion on this topic. Mine is why not let them get married? The divorce rate in heterosexuals is very high, but I have know gays and lesbians that never break up. My opinion is there divorce rate would be much lover. The bible says god loves everyone, so why wouldn't he be o.k with this? If they want to get married, they should have that right. It shouldn't be taken away from them just because they like the same sex. I may not be gay and you may not be gay, you...

Outside of religion, are there any arguments to ban gay marriage/civil unions?

MysticEgg
NJPatriot

The topic of gay marriage has been hotly debated. It is the latest flair after rights for women and black people. Now it's rights for homosexuals (gays). This is often argued with religion. Therefore, I have decided to invoke this debate specifically designed to exclude religion from the equation. Thus: Outside of religion, are there any arguments to ban gay marriage/civil unions? If we conclude no, then surely we can say strongly that religion is the main cause of opposition? but that is anot...
