Question: Why not make the minimum wage a percentage of the company?

If there are any economics people out there, my question to you is: Why not make the minimum wage a percentage of what a given company is worth/makes/can pay? That way every company wouldn't have to pay out more than they could afford and couldn't get away with paying less than they could afford. You could call it a "floor wage" and then have a base minimum wage that no company could go below, so that small companies couldn't get away with paying there employees like 25 cents an hour. Would this...

Should Abortion be illegal?

The debate over whether or not abortion should be a legal option continues to divide Americans long after the US Supreme Court's 7-2 decision in Roe v. Wade declared the procedure a "fundamental right" on Jan. 22, 1973. I believe abortion should continue on to be legal because as the independence state we are free we all have freedom some people use that freedom has an excuse or to made bad choices but we have no right to fight or break the law. I really believe that abortion is wrong but it's n...

Should US citizens have the right to bear arms?

Should US citizens have the right to bear arms? The answer, yes. Jefferson said "A government big enough to give you everything you want, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have." So giving up our guns would be feeding the government, they would only grow. A government that is to powerful will lead to chaos and dictation. Who will you feed, the government or the people? Feeding the government gives them a change to throw away all the good that the founding Fathers made f...

Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its economic and/or dip

We cannot have a policy of economic stagnation between two countries. With this period of economic interconnectedness, China's economic problems are our economic problem, and vice versa. Right now, viewing China as the Big Bad Wolf is not a correct position to take. In actuality, it is not even a grown-up position to take. If we allow ourselves to become friends and cooperate with China, who knows what problems could be resolved. In particular, the problem of North Korea could be easily flushed...

Should all medical care be free?

For a long time it has been debated whether or not medical care of differing kinds should be free. I believe that medical care of all kinds should be free-of-cost to all U.S. Citizens. Almost six hundred thousand people are without a home each day in the United States* alone. If one can not afford a house, how can they afford to treat the illness that they have? It was not their choice to contract their disease, disorder, or ailment. Therefore, they should not have the burden of giving up eve...
