Is Shutting Down Club Penguin to Start Anew a Good Idea?

Sinque
EverythingIsMacabre

When I was younger, I played a lot Club Penguin. Recently, I heard they are shutting down the game after 11 years to start 'Clup Penguin World', a 3D version of the game. I was of course a bit sad, but mostly curious how the game would do, business wise.My argument is that Club Penguin World will be a failure, and Disney should have kept Club Penguin and done something to it, e.g. an update.-Round 1 is accepting the challenge. After that, anything goes.-B...

Price Gouging Following Natural Disaster ought to be permitted by law

tylergraham95
Blade-of-Truth

I would like to argue that price gouging following natural disasters can be a good thing, and that it ought to be permitted by law.Definitions"Price Gouging Following Natural Distaster" (PGFND): the practice of marking up the price of a good rapidly (over 50% increase in price roughly) in response to sudden increase of scarcity as a result of a natural disaster (flood, tornado, typhoon, godzilla attack, etc.)"Oug...

Is capitalism the best economic system?

Trump27
Capitalistslave

Capitalism is what makes America the greatest country in the world. It is one of the reasons we are made almost entirely of immigrants, because people, whether fleeing communism, socialism, or other weak economies, want to come to the U.S. because they know we have jobs. We have a solid, open, and opportunistic economy. The American Dream! Capitalism drives us to make money, to make corporations that provide jobs, and to create the goods and services which gives Western society its high quality...

Socialism(pro) versus capitalism(con)

Capitalistslave
JimShady

I am challenging JimShady to this debate. I would like to mention that I am going to be arguing for a specific type of socialism known as cooperative individualism, which is a form of cooperative economics. You can read about cooperative economics/individualism here if you're unfamilar with it[1]. As you can see, it employs socialist economics, and some people consider it a form of syndicalism, which is a form of socialism. I would rather not debate on whether cooperative economics is socia...

Democracy should apply to businesses

Capitalistslave
Brandamn

I will argue that businesses should be democratically controlled. My opponent will argue they shouldn't be. Rules of debate1) Be civil, no ad hominem, personal attacks, insults2) The total number of rounds minus one should be used for argument. This is to keep the total number of rounds used for argument even between us since I am not using round 1 for argument.3) The last round of debate should just be rebuttal to your opponent's argumen...

Should the United States Outsource jobs to other countries

Aviel
lescath

I don't believe in outsourcing jobs to other countries. We need to focus on growing our economy and our employment. When we focus primarily on profit of big business we are not benefitting the United States, but focusing on other countries to grow their employment through our businesses. Recent statistics show that over two million jobs were outsourced in 2013, with the bulk of them going to China and India. With American employment at a low, it"s easy to argue that those two million jobs would...
