I think for the job that they do enlisted soldiers deserve more pay.

kels1123
goldspurs

I am debating enlisted soldiers only because I do not know enough about officers and their pay scale. Also I am not debating that they signed up for it , so that is the pay they deserve. I do not think that enlisted soldiers get enough pay for the sacrifices they make. We need an army and we need soldiers. They protect our country. Soldiers must follow all orders no matter what. Soldiers have to miss holidays, bdays, births of their children, anniversaries, graduations, weddings, etc. They have...

UN Resolution 1674 should be invoked to stop the genocide in Gaza

brian_eggleston
cto09

‘Tis the season of peace and goodwill to all men! Well, not according to the Israelis it would seem. As Jewish Israeli families celebrate Hanukkah by feasting, exchanging gifts and generally making merry, their neighbours in Gaza, already desperately short of the basic necessities of life, are being bombarded by Israeli Air Force jets and, with no way of defending themselves, are being murdered in their hundreds every day. So while Jewish children in Israel are joyfully opening their pr...

That, by 2040, the federal government should mandate that all new passenger vehicles and light truck

bigbass3000
Liadonkid

The only thing Obama could agree with Bush about is bailing out the auto industry, because the industry was obviously failing . With the bailout of American auto-companies being hotly debated before Congress, this issue is at the forefront of the discussion. America's transportation sector is heavily reliant on oil, most of which is imported from foreign countries. Therefore this brings us to the resolution , That, by 2040, the federal government should mandate that all new passenger vehicles an...

The Internet: The Last True Example of Free Speech (Net Neutrality)

believer_720
JoeBob

NOTE: DO NOT TAKE THIS DEBATE IF YOU ARE GOING TO DEBATE THAT THE INTERNET IS OUR LAST VESTAGE OF FREE SPEECH. THAT IS NOT THE TOPIC OF THIS DEBATE. NET NEUTRALITY IS. I believe that Net Neutrality should be spared, and should be kept away from Virgin Media's grubby, greedy hands. For those who don't know, I'll summarize net neutrality in a simple way. Net neutrality is what lets you sit at your computer, hop on the internet, and visit every site on the internet at the same speed. Now, gra...

The outcome of the Ramos and Compean case

jordyz
mjoveny

To give the voters a little background in the Ramos and Compean case two border patrol agents were tried for shooting a drug smuggling illegal alien as he crossed the border. They were sentenced to 11 and 10 years in prison. According to Ramos and Compean's testimony they saw the drug smuggler (as he was running from them)pull out a "shiny metal object". Thinking that the drug smuggler was pulling a gun on them they shot him in the rear. This understandably interrupted his drug smuggling and h...

If the Burmese Government wants no aid then other countries around the world should stop trying

clemsongirl5353
biophil

If the Burmese government does not want aid from other countries then those countries should stop trying. If the government wants there people to starve to death and die from diseases because they are afraid of people overthrowing their government then see if the people won't overthrow them. I am interested in hearing a response because in school my social studies class just did a debate on this!...

The late-night metro rail does more harm than good.

lil_tweet
HellKat

The late-night metro rail does more harm than good and here is why: 1)It leads to more kidnaps. For example what if you is on the metro rail by yourself, maybe at, 1:00 in the morning and nobody is around but one stranger. THat will give that person to rape, kidnap, or do anything that they want to do. 2)More fights.Late night metro rail can lead to fights because most likely there will be more drunks on the metro rail, and this could lead into a big fight because the person that is d...

The media isn't liberal

BeatTheDevil89
ILoveCheese

Media will be all forms of print (newspapers, magazines, etc), TV news, radio, and the internet. You all should know the definitions of liberal and conservative. Anyway along with the opening: I would argue that the media isn't liberal. In this I contend that their is a wide range of philosophies of reporters and news stations but the media IS NOT overhelmingly liberal. Conservatives have just said "the liberal media" so many times without any evidence that it has become a fact. A...

Every soldier who dies in Iraq, dies in vein

The_Riddler
RoyLatham

I'd like to start by saying, I have the utmost respect for the soldiers who risk there lives in combat, and this is not an attack on them or our armed forces, just the fact that our attack on Iraq was unjust and under qualified. Also, I'd like to welcome anyone who is willing to take on this debate. I will take the affirmation stance. 1. There were no "WMD's" in Iraq Tyler Drumheller, the former highest-ranking CIA officer in Europe, told "60 Minutes" that the administration "chose to ignor...
