Cash for crappy cars

burbachrocks

This was going to be a great idea for for about a week but instead they had to at another 2 million dollars to it. Dealers are starting to say that people are so post to take back their cars. I found this on this web site http://uaddit.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=1205 Dealerships give customers the program's $4,500 trade-in rebates up front, then must file paperwork with the federal government to be reimbursed by stimulus dollars. Cosignatory says her dealership has not gotten any o...

We strongly affirm today's resolution: Resolved: That, on balance, the rise of Brazil, Russia, India, and China (BRIC) has had a positive impact on the United States. For clarity, the following words are defined. "Has had" is in the past tense; therefore any impacts in this round must already have happened. According to the University of Michigan, the rise of BRIC began in the 21st century, so any impacts in this round must have happened between the year 2000 and now. The resolution propo...

This House Would Recognize 'The Pirate Bay' As Wrongly Convicted.

MistahKurtz
PervRat

In case you have not heard the news; http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/18/business/global/18pirate.html Today we find ourselves at a crossroads, both marred by fog, spooky trees and werewolves and whatnot. One road involves criminalizing file sharing and persecuting everybody who participates in it, leading to never ending witch hunt. The other path would be that of legalization. It would be a path in which we work with the entertainment industry to find a new way in which they may remain compe...

Pleasant Grove City vs. Summum (a first amendment case)

johannesjones
jjmd280

If my opponent or any readers is not familiar with this case, they may cut and paste this link and pick their sources. I side with Pleasant Grove City, and pick the con label because the current ruling (from the 10th circuit in the US court of appeals) sides with Summum. The case concerns the right of Pleasant Grove City to display the ten commandments in a public area (Pioneer Park), while denying Sum...

Should we pull out of Iraq?

bella_73

Herbert Hoover once said, "Older men declare war, but it is the youth that must fight and die." Our invasion of Iraq is unjustified we went there in search of weapons of mass destruction, but we found none, and still we are there. Its like a search warrant, you search for the things you are looking for only. We dont need to try to control another country when we can barley control our own...

It is morally permissible to kill Nelson Mandela to save the lives of innocent orphans.

brian_eggleston

This debate is inspired by the forthcoming LD debate: "It is morally permissible to kill one innocent person to save the lives of more innocent people" but I don't know how to do LD debate (and I'm too lazy to learn) so please forgive my self-indulgence in pursuing a less formal interpretation of the topic. Picture the scene, if you will. It is a fine day in South Africa and Nelson Mandela is at the controls of his Ziviko Edge 540 single-seater stunt plane. All is well and he is heading home...

The police officers weren't justified in thier crowd control tactics at the rainbow gathering july 3

Harlan
ajn0592

In July of this summer, during the annual rainbow gathering, law enforcement officers aggressively entered kid village to arrest someone. When a lady asked the officers to take their guns out of kid village, they violently detained her as well. Looking to instigate a riot, they prematurely began firing rubber bullets, pepper spray balls, and using tazers on the gatherers. People had welts all over their body from the close range barrage of pepper spray balls. They randomly shot with no discr...
