I am tired of seeing other people argue this topic and want to do it myself. I am against gun control in general and will argue as such. 1st round accept, 2nd for opening statements, 3-4 are rebuttals and 5 is to close. Be CONCISE. I want a real discussion, not some sincerly ignorant troll or name calling knucklehead....

The use of Gun control is against the second amendment, whereas it states; "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. " (As told by ucla.edu) I will prove my case through two main ideals; Security and Safety First, I will discuss why security is a contributing factor to a nations welfare. If, during war time, the United states was invaded, it would be required for a civil defence, t...

I personally believe that every person within the US has enough responsibility to own a gun and to not abuse this privilege. Without these weapons, many people would feel insecure within their homes. Additionally, if we were to take guns away from our citizens, the use of illegal, and unregistered guns would drastically increase. Therefore allowing our citizens to own guns is immensely important....

Gun's are easily available to children because of irresponsible adults. Multiple times, these children have killed someone, sometimes adults, sometimes fellow children. The first thing an escaped convict is going to get is a gun, even if he has to kill for it, and he's NOT going to use it for deer hunting. People who politically support gun freedom are usually not trustworthy; they have gun or ammo shops or manufacturers, own shooting ranges, etc., or they own guns and would like to keep them no...

Gun Control Is Still Bad

EXTENSION OF (http://www.debate.org/debates/Gun-Control-Is-Bad-BROAD/1/) Somehow people believed your side was right when the arguments you made were incredibly ignorant and weak. You ignored most of my counters and hooked the debate into a corner. I want to continue debating. >"when I have stated Gun Control is NOT about taking away guns from everyone but instead making it more difficult for people with ill intent to receieve a gun, even if it's just by a few minutes." You have yet to...

The second amendment was created for a reason. To protect the American people; specifically against rouge governments. Obama wants to inflict fire arms confiscation to lower the crime rate in the country. He is acting as though criminals follow laws. If the people of America want guns, the people of America will get guns; even on the black market if needs be. I live in a hunting, redneck, I-like-big-explosion-and-fire type of community and if the government comes to our doorstep for the purpose...

Hello all. This debate is part of the current Debate Tournament. I will be contending that gun regulation should be minimal and only in the forms of background checks to purchase a gun. If my opponent wishes for a different resolution, I hope he comments on it before accepting it. Contention 1: Guns protect people If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns, which actually increased crime rates. States with right-to-carry...

Libertarians are right on crime-- No gun control laws an no victimless crimes

Gun control laws do not work because criminals will prey on citizens because criminals will be armed while citizens are defenseless. In Florida, the murder rate dropped 20% after gun control was abolished. Criminals fear armed suspects. My dad is a cop he knows that the main reason people think twice about robberies is because the may be armed. Our Constitution says, "The right to bear arms shall not be infringed." Gun control laws are unconstitutional. Our police spend a lot of their time...
