The 1969 Moon Landing Was A Complete Hoax

During my sophomore year of college, I presented a persuasive speech for a Speech course that changed my opinion about one of the biggest "accomplishments" of the 20th century. What I'm about to state may excite you, anger you, make you ponder, or make you think that I have a screw loose... If you stayed up to watch the 1969 moon landing, you saw cinematic magic at its best. That's right, the moon landing was about as real as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. When I originally did the re...
Palaeontology Is the most Controversial Scientific Field

Palaeontology is the study of prehistoric life forms on Earth through the examination of plant and animal fossils. My agreement is that it is the most controversial field of study on the planet. How can I say this? Because it challenges every religion on Earth to its own validity. Faith rules the world, like it or not. The most prominent is Christianity, followed by Muslims, then Hindu, and Buddhists as the top four. The Christian and Hindu creation stories can be found here: http://www.bible...
Evolution is incorrect

I am against evolution, and I would like to know why whoever accepts this believes it is correct. I would like to concentrate more on the the issue of the age of the earth (I don't even know exactly how old you say it is, but I don't agree.:-P), but if you would like to bring other topics in, that's fine by me....
Can you believe in evolution and the bible?

The bible states that god created man. Evolution theory states we evolved from apes. I don't see how a person can seriously believe in the bible and also respect the science of evolution. In my opinion you either believe the bible 100% or you believe science 100%. Some folks who cheery pick things to believe from the bible do not have 100% faith in the book and therefore are admitting flaws in there religious bible and showing cracks in their faith. I also don't see how one can believe in evolut...
Evolution is fact.

I could use all 8,000 characters describing exactly what evolution is and how it works, but that would be a waste of time. I request that whoever accepts this debate has at least a basic understanding of the theory of evolution, so they can bring up valid points I can address. So...bring up whatever qualms you have with the theory of evolution, and I'll debate them....
We will eventually see the rise of artificial intelligence, and even artificial consciousness.

The possibility of artificial intelligence is intriguing at least in part due to the fact that we have so poor a grasp on the question of intelligence and "thinking" in general. What does it mean, really, to be "intelligent?" What is really going on when someone is "thinking?" While all of us might have some opinions on these questions, it's very difficult to see how anyone could actually claim to know the answers beyond any reasonable doubt. If we truly did understand "thinking," for example, o...
Is abortion good for a woman
Abortion should be something everyone can agree with, because, if a woman is raped and does not want a baby she should be able to get an abortion so she wont have to be forced through motherhood....
Pressing a button that kills a random person in the world for a million dollars is worth it

The number of people that a person knows personally is on average 1,000 people. This means that the chances of the person being someone you know is one in six and a half million. The average number of people that a person knows impersonally is around 4000, still a very small percentage of the world's population. In fact, the chances that killing a random person will affect your life in any way is one in a million. With millions of people dying a day, what does one more person matter. Think about...
Two is equal to one.

Let a = b. Then a^2 = ab. Subtract b^2 from both sides. Then a^2-b^2=ab-b^2. Use difference of squares. (a+b)(a-b)=b(a-b) Divide both sides by (a-b). Then a+b=b. Now let a=1, then b=1. Substitute a=1 and b=1 into a+b=b. Thus 2=1....
