Flat Earth

Capitalistslave
Edlvsjd

I will be challenging, perhaps, one of the better known proponents of the flat earth theory from DDO: Edlvsjd. NOTE TO EDLVSJD: rule one is changed to a different rule, since I am, instead, using a google doc for argument 1. As you wanted(I think) I am posting my first arguments in round 1. Rules of debate 1) Google Docs are not a violation of conduct, but character limit is still 10,000, so that voters don't have a book to read. 2) The last two rounds should be used for rebuttals against...

Should people be able to keep exotic animals?

AnimalJamRocks
Mal618

One reason why people shouldn"t be able to keep exotic animals is because they are very hard to take care of. Exotic animals aren"t very good companions. They need lots of attention, space, and when they grow up, lots and lots of food. If the animals needs aren"t met, they could suffer....

Nuclear decay rates are not constant

Abeceda
Ernold

We have only known about radioactivity for a relatively short amount of time, but regardless, we seem to insist that the decay rates of elements are constant beyond a shadow of a doubt, under any circumstances. For example, the half life of polonium-218 will always remain 3.05 minutes, no matter the circumstances surrounding the element (f.ex., atmospheric pressure, temperature, magnetic field intensity). I am here to say that this doctrine of constancy is demonstrably false, and I will provi...

Humans are both physically and mentally superior to most animals.

Logicality1
atomicgunner

Human beings are superior to most other life on Earth because we fight and think in a different way than most animals. Mentally, we exceed all life easily because we don't need to do things like hunt, or constantly work for food. Since the first easy sources of food, humans haven't needed to put in as much time or energy hunting for food, instead using that time to think and plan. Our brains are also designed to adapt much more easily than most other species. Physically, we also beat most animal...

Time is not a dimension

DStallman
DumbellDoor

To be clear: As Pro, I will be arguing that time is not a dimension. For the purpose of the debate, alternatives to the claim that time is a dimension shall be saved for my debate rounds.Rules: 1. There's not actually any rules, but if you apply any fallacies you'll probably be called out on them.

There is no evidence that humans share a common ancestor with apes

Abeceda
IBeatMyMeats

My position is that there is not one piece of evidence in support of the idea that humans share a common ancestor with apes - that can not be interpreted in another way. To clarify my position even further, I shall provide an example. Homology, which is considered evidence of such common ancestry, might equally be evidence of common factory (i.e. that the similarities are not due to a shared ancestor, but a shared maker). If you disagree with this, and believe that you have definitive evid...

The existence of C-14 in the bones of dinosaurs proves they lived less than 100,000 years ago

Abeceda
Apophis66

The theoretical limit for the detection of C-14 is 100,000 years. Therefore, when C-14 is detected in a closed system, the age is certainly less than 100,000 years of age. C-14 has been detected in numerous dinosaur bones consistently, therefore the dinosaur bones are less than 100,000 years.
