The death Penalty should still stand.

I think that the Death Penalty should stay. I do not believe that it is right to let a murderer stay in prison living off of tax dollars for the rest of his life. I believe that the penalty should only be used on people they have hard evidence on so they can avoid executing the wrong person. If the death penalty stayed, there would be less crimes in and outside of jail. Criminals would be afraid to kill someone fearing for their lives. Does anyone object?...
Debate should be considered a recreational activity, rather than educational

There is alot of dispute on whether debate in itself should be considered educational rather than recreational. I will be arguing on the PRO side of this debate. DEFINITIONS Recreational: 1. Refreshment by means of some pastime, agreeable exercise, or the like. 2. A pastime, diversion, exercise, or other resource affording relaxation and enjoyment. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Recreational Educational: 1. Pertaining to education. 2. Tending or intended to educate, in...
Guitarist Duel

I would like to propose a "Guitar Duel"! The judges will be able to rate the guitarists on any criteria they want to... To decide which "team" of 5 guitarists is better! My 5 guitarists vs. my opponent's 5 guitarists! ... ------------ RULES: 1. Each side chooses one guitarist per round 2. The guitarists can be living or dead. 3. Each person gets to pick 5 guitarists. Once a guitarist has been chosen the other side cannot choose him. 4. Each side gets to post one video of them...
GodSands is wrong when he tells others whether they're Christians or not

I just read what GodSands and other people wrote on this thread: http://www.debate.org/forums/education/topic/2854/1/ It looks like GodSands knows who is Christian and who is not, based on what he thinks people do that is forbidden in Christianity, and what he thinks they do willingly, not because they perhaps have a hard time warding it off. Perhaps he should understand that there is a thing called repentance, and when people sin they can repent, and sinning does not make them non-Christians...
Public Health Concerns Justify Compulsory Immunization
LD format but if you are a national circuit debater, progressive formats are fine. There will be no speech here. Voters, please leave RFD's in comments....
Public health concerns justify compulsory immunization
I will negate the resolution. Some things my not apply to todays debate becuase I debate this case at tournaments. LD AC, NC, AR, NR, AR2! Let's begin "Justice is itself the great standing policy of civil society; and any eminent departure from it, under any circumstances, lies under the suspicion of being no policy at all." Edmund Burke an English philosopher (1797) once said this. Compulsory immunizations take away the justice in society, taking this justice away is like not having it at...
TOC Round 2: Murder is, in general, just.

Murder - the unlawful killing of another human being with intent (or malice aforethought) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder) In general - for the most part (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/in%20general) Just - acting or being in conformity with what is morally upright or good (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/just) I thank my opponent for coming up with this topic for debating for the Tournament of Champions. As he will have five rounds to argue while I have four, he s...
The Death Penalty Should Be Used In Certain Cases

Resolved: The death penalty should be used in certain cases There are many cases in which the death penalty is just and should be used. For example, if a man is proven that, without a doubt, he killed another man, that murderer should be killed. While it would be profitable to use the people in prison to do labor, the prisoner should at least be given the option between death and working in prison for the rest of his life. resolved: hobos appreciate chicken taquitos

There once was a time when hobos enjoyed the deliciousness of the taquito. That time is long gone. For this reason, my partner and I must negate resolved: hobos appreciate chicken taquitos. This will be a public forum style debate. Hobo is defined as one who wanders from place to place without a permanent home or a means of livelihood. Contention 1- hobos don't deserve taquitos. They are not part of society and contribute nothing. If they realize they don't contribute to the U.S. economy d...
