Technology R&D Needs Unification

In the past, it has been beneficial to have all of a country's technology resources focused onto one progressive area. Competition stops many companies from investing more time into outlandish technological developments. A unification of all technology companies and resources would be beneficial to humanity in the long run. I extend the challenge to any takers....
Pc is better than Mac

I'm standing at pro Pc and my opponent will be pro Mac or con pc, whatever you want to say. A fully loaded Imac will put you out around $3,000. But a fully loaded Hp TouchSmart IQ800t series with Blue ray, and blue tooth, a wireless keyboard and mouse, for $1,700. even a watered down Mac costs $2,000. Pc also has a vast compatibility with gaming and random stuff for hacking, moding and all the good stuff like that. the debate itself is about all of Mac and PC including price, sorry for...

It's time to bring back invalid carriages

Have you ever driven a car in Britain? If so, you may have seen some pretty erratic driving – cars driving on the wrong side of the road, cars jumping red lights, cars mounting the pavements (sidewalks), etc. The explanation for this is usually due to the driver being: a) drunk b) on a mobile phone (cellphone) c) an American tourist unused to manual transmission (stick shift) and the steering wheel being on the right-hand side of the car Otherwise, there is a very good chance that the dr...
Plasma is better overall for TV watching than LCD

My argument is that for people interested in a great all round TV, for normal TV viewing, mixing in things such as Bluray watching, DVD watching, Pay TV etc that Plasma is the better choice than LCD. This is assuming that the watcher is Mr & Mrs Average. This means that it's an average sized room, with average light levels, with an average budget. They are a normal "Mum & Dad" consumer. They has a wide range of viewing from sports and movies for him, and the comedies and romance movies for h...
Resolved: That, on balance, social networking Web Sites have a positive impact on the United States.
This is following PF rules - Increases physical harm So many teenagers and adults have lost their lives as a result of social networking web sites. It does not benefit our society. -Increases emotional harm People say a lot of irresponsible things while online. It results in unneeded and unwanted feelings that get hurt....
Genetically modified soldiers should be developed and deployed.

Genetically modified: Enhanced in some way, either by utilising bacteria, computer chips or enhancing cells on the human, not the equipment. To adopt con you must: 1. Believe that an enhanced 'super' soldier should never be used in combat. 2. Be able to come up with 2 points why they shouldn't,and be able to rebut 2 of my points. During this debate I will refer to genetically modified soldiers a super soldiers. To start I will give my points: 1. It will make war easier: How many sold...
Five-Round Debates Are Inferior To Three-Round Debates

I sincerely hope we can stay away from semantics. This is obviously limited to debate.org, and I really hope we don't get into the definitions of "round", "debate", "inferior", or anything equally absurd. With that said, I strongly affirm the resolution: "Five-round debates are inferior to three-round debates." ---- Contention 1: For the Reader ---- (1) Reading a possible eighty thousand charachters for a debate is absurd. There is a place for extensive discusion, but the sacrifice of r...
Linux meets the needs of the average, adult computer user

Firstly, I'd like to present some ground work: -This debate is solely on the subject of "Linux meets the needs of the average computer user." Therefore, the refute can only be contained within the scope of "Linux does NOT meet the needs of the average computer user." This is not a debate of the merits of different operating systems (ie, Windows vs. Linux, Mac vs. Linux, etc) or why someone should or should not switch. -For simplicity, I'd like to limit the discussion to an opening statemen...
