Jeans should be considered business casual

Jeans are not comfortable to wear, at all. Unless you purposefully torture yourself several days in a row with the same pair in order to stretch out the elastic just enough that at least you can breathe while sitting, it's no fun at all. Even then, put them through a wash cycle once, and you have to start anew. Now on the basis that casual is roughly defined as relaxed and unconcerned, jeans cannot fall under that definition. Now if jeans cannot be simple casual, it remains the question of wh...

Sexual orientation is not a choice

I'm new to, so forgive me if I make a mistake in this process. I've made multiple attempts to argue this point in person and have come unsuccessful. I have yet to hear an argument supporting that sexuality is a choice, despite my efforts. The closest I've heard has been "sexual orientation may not be a choice, but homosexual actions certainly are". I'm not trying to debate this, I'm talking about strictly sexual orientation. Considering this is a website specifically for debating,...

who is more important, parents or god.

While talking to one of my friends, I recently came to know that that , he thought that god is more important than parents. I d like to know the general opinion. I'm with the topic and strongly say that parents are more important, and god comes next. Please provide only logical explanations. As long as the debate goes on, consider me an atheist. Talk logic. I'll give you a chance to put your words against the motion....

Quality should be valued over sanctity of life

The sanctity of life should be valued over the quality of life. Every single life has a chance to flourish and become great, no matter what the situation the life is placed in. Every one of those lives deserve a chance to change the world or make the world a better place than the state of the world when they were born with. By killing unborn babies, the elderly, the handicapped, and the useless, we are killing potentially great people. We are murdering possible leaders and great minds of the Ear...

The sacrament of the Eucharist is reasonable based on the scriptural and historical evidences.

I would like to thank Lupricona for suggesting the topic of this debate, and for providing the specific resolution. Before I begin, I want to make clear that the first round is NOT for acceptance. My opponent should feel free to offer his contentions and/or rebuttals. The only other thing I'd like to add is that no new arguments will be allowed in the last round. I won't be offering any scripture or historical references this round. Instead, I give the voters a couple things to t...

There is no unchanging, separate self.

First round for acceptance only. The feeling of being an individual separate from ones environment is inevitably found to be illusory. There is no core to being, no "observer" or "soul" that continues from life to life, or even, from moment to moment. All things are subject to change, and there is no unchanging substrate to this change. Indeed, "essence" is an illusory notion....
