Do Schools focus more on Grades (Pro) or Intelligence (Con)

AdamBabs
Dark_Soul

I believe that Schools focus too heavily on what your grade is rather than what you are learning. Currently, schools are pressuring student on keeping their grades up. Sure having good grades is good, but in some cases they don't measure your knowledge. You can really understand a subject and know exactly what the material is, but none of that matters because you didn't turn in one homework assignment and that brought your grade down 1%. According to schools, that's the end of the world. Now you...

All Else Being the Same, a Moral Position in War is Untenable

wrichcirw
Jingle_Bombs

Many people are of the opinion that there is such a thing as a "just war" or a war where a nation's moral fibre remains intact. What this debate is meant to demonstrate is either:1) The cost of moral fibre2) That if we were to ever fight an enemy whose tactical and strategic position was equal to ours, the first casualty of war will be morality. This debate is impossible to accept. If you would like to argue CON, plea...

Gun Laws

Mega3bb
Anarcho-Socialist

My position will be arguing against gun laws, addressing whether people should be allowed to buy guns at all. I would like to stay away from the Second Amendment as much as possible if possible, as I feel that that is a fall back used by some who support gun rights and would like to see what challenges can be made without it. Anything else I missed?...

Is the world changing for the better (pro for better con for not)

coolkid1231
Kylar

No, the world is not changing for the better. Threat of nuclear destruction, disease, political and religious conflicts, rising terrorist organizations, faltering birthrates in 1st world countries, failing economies, failing American educational system, voter apathy, running out of resources, "climate change", etc . As much as we'd might like to believe the world is changing for the better; the harsh reality is that the world is becoming overpopulated, fossil fuels are running low and un...

Do we have free will?

TessElena
YoshiBoy13

We've probably all seen the comic of a dinosaur that said, " if atoms and particles all behave in probabilistic ways, but our mind is made of atoms and particles, how can free will exist?" My debate is inspired by that. This debate is opened to anyone interested. I will let my opponent begin....

Risk Strategy: Australia is the best beginning continent.

Proving_a_Negative
Tanman517

Pro will argue that whoever obtains Australia first has a decisive advantage over the rest of the players and will therefore statically win more often. As con, I will argue that Australia is overrated; it doesn't give the player an advantage compared to other possible opening strategies. I recommend that you be very familiar with Risk the board game if you like to accept. I have completed over a thousand games. Rules: -5 player match -all players are equally familiar with the game -the pla...
