Global warming is NOT a phenomenon that is happening right now.

padfo0t

Thank you Ching-Kit for being my friend, Thank you for debating and telling me about debate.org, Thank you for teaching me good strategies. Now prepare yourself. Global warming is an inaccurate theory. As a part of my evidence I will present to you a situation. In the 1970's, many news groups and organizations that studied the weather had a strong belief that we were going to, soon, go through another ice-age. Thirty years later: here we are. Earth has always gone through fluxua...

Funding for NASA is unreasonable

Kasemei
polishgirlinar

Granted, NASA is an extremely important program for the United States, but $17.3 Billion? That's downright outrageous. Much could be done with that money, and I don't believe it's justified to spend that much money on NASA when there are more problems to take care of here, rather then on the moon. Looking to some of my research, it will only take $2 Billion to fund meeting Millenium Development water sanitation goals in all of Sub Saharan Africa! Helping people on Mother Earth, or going to the m...

There is a smallest distance

beem0r
mmadderom

My position is that there is not a smallest distance. We'll start with this for my opening argument, just because I'm sort of obligated to say something: There is no smallest distance because it is always possible to halve said distance. That said, I guess I'll wait for an opponent....

String theory

GaryBacon
Sanchez

One of the most amazing philosophers of all time is Karl Popper. He came up with the idea of falsificationism. This is a philosophy that applies to science. It states that if an idea is not falsifiable, it is not scientific. This does not mean that the theory is false. That is a misconception. The idea is that if an hypothesis or a theory were false, there would be a way to show it. (E.g. nothing travels faster than the speed of light) This is (to the best of our knowledge) a true statement. How...

Chances that a alien visiting us would be nearly identical 2 humans or humanoid at all is very small

Harlan
dthmstr254

...And the media's portrayal of what an alien would look like is flawed. (continued from topic) This may seem like an odd topic, but I actually have once gotten into an argument about this. WE are all familiar with the media's portrayal of what an "alien" looks like, and we have seen plenty of alleged videos of aliens which, also, portray an alien that has a complexion almost identical to a human. But does that really make sense? If an intelligent being from a star light-years awa...

Time is an illusion

3DCrew
happypancakeeater

I assert that time does not exist. It is, in fact, an illusion created by the movement of matter and energy. Let's suppose a greatly simplifed universe which is only composed of 4 atoms labeled A, B, C, and D. In this space exactly large enough to contain these atoms they are created by God and arranged in order ABC and D is the observer. God rearranges them to CAB and D is not changed. God rearranges them back to ABC and D is not changed. Did atom D just go back in "time" or just witness a...
