single payer health care is better than our current health care system

dairygirl4u2c
Max.Wallace

single payer health care is better than our current health care system i am borrowing this debate from else where. please use this link to find working links in this debate http://www.debate.org/debates/single-payer-health-care-is-better-than-our-current-health-care-system/1/ The right single payer system would cover everyone, while yielding better results, and saving money. BETTER RESULTS WHILE SAVING MONEY: we spend more per capita, and get less health care results back... than...

'fair trade' not 'free trade'

linate
Aerogant

i am an advocate of "fair trade" not free trade.... or at least "managed trade", not laissez faire trade. the primary flaw with free trade is the idea of the "race to the bottom". countries compete with each other so much that it's a detriment to everyone.... they have to start cutting regulations and wages etc just to compete. perhaps for a country that is just starting to develop, or in the process of developing, they being on the receiving end will reap benefits of something they wouldn't...

Large companies should be allowed to hire prisoners for labor work.

debatergorl
Mr.Grace

America imprisons more people than any other country in the world. The Prison Industrial Complex is a major institution in the US and quite a controversial one if I might add. There are many debatable elements of this industry, but I would like to focus on one in particular: Should large companies be allowed to hire prisoners for labor work? As of now, large businesses (such as Walmart, BP, Macy's, etc) are hiring prisoners to do labor jobs. Jobs include basic needs like construction and p...

Legalizing Marijuana

brewer61
KhalifV

It would be malpractice to say that cannabis isn't addictive. Anybody who's experienced it, actually been addicted to it, knows how profound that addiction is.... The difficult thing about marijuana addiction is some people, even though they're addicted can do fine with it for many many years before they start to have difficultly, but eventually the high starts wearing off, people start smoking a lot more to try to get that high back and that's when they descend into difficulties. . When people...

It is economically illogical to pay for digital content.

ayden13

Greetings. For my first debate, I have a pet economic hypothesis that I would like to test. Since I will be using some basic-level economic theories and concepts, it would be to my opponent's advantage to have some background in the field; though a lack thereof should not preclude potential challengers.I propose the following structure:--Round 1: Acceptance and initial arguments. No rebuttals.Round 2: Rebuttals and additional arguments, if desired.Round 3: Fina...
