Are any attempts at reconciling Free Will with Determinism reasonable?

Legendary_Houp
harrytruman

Are any attempts at reconciling Free Will with Determinism reasonable? Even as a Christian, I still doubt the compatibility of some doctrines and philosophies with others. In this debate, I am strictly referring to the Christian God, and not a God of any other religion. Therefore philosophical and Biblical arguments can be considered. I would say that the burden of proof is split, and that my opponent must make their case by a preponderance of the evidence. All rounds can be for argument....

There is no excuse for over 80% of abortions that happen. You also probably don't know what abortion is. You might know the concept of abortion, which is obvious, but abortions are horrible. The main surgical procedures are the first, where the surgeon goes into the vaginal canal and cut the bab...

RedAtheist912
WCBC15

Is morality objective? By objective, one would mean fixed rules. Shall it be given by a supposed higher being, it doesn't matter. By subjective, one would mean the morality is flexible, under human opinion. So the long and short of it: objective is fixed, subjective is flexible. I will take the side that morality is not objective, Contender will take the side that it is. Con may begin arguments in Round 1....

Religion can be both a constructive and destructive thing, depending on the religion.

trotskyist1337
Chase226

I will be arguing that some religions should be forgotten and left in the past, and some deserve to be treated with more respect as they are constructive. Religions such as Christianity are destructive to society, Christians want to take away people's freedom, For instance, Christians oppose abortion but there is no good reason for this if a Christian doesn't want to have an abortion fine, but let people who aren't Christian have a choice. Christians oppose: Homosexuality, Transgender...
