Is there an unbiased method to correctly interpret the Bible?

Truth_seeker
ergodicsum

In this debate, i will discuss about an unbiased method in order to correctly interpret the Bible. Please feel free to give your thoughts/opinions and votes. What does it mean to interpret? It basically means to explain the meaning of literature, painting, music, and other forms, thus Biblical Hermenutics is the science of interpreting the Bible. Unlike other religions, The Bible is compiled by many different authors over centuries, sharing the same theology, but developing it overtime a...

John 6:53 "Jesus said to them, "Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me....

The Best London Underground Line

Tube
Mimshot

This debate is about which Tube line is the best. I consider any of the following a "Tube line": Bakerloo, Central, Hammersmith & City, Jubilee, Metropolitan, Circle, District, Piccadilly, Northern, Victoria. In general, I do not consider the Waterloo & City or the Docklands Light Railway a choice for this debate, but if the person accepting this debate feels very passionately about one of those and wishes to argue in favour of it, I will not object. Rules: 1. I request that both sides ref...

roman catholic church has never contradicted itself

dairygirl4u2c
kgill28

in this debate, i am not counting the issues of limbo, or "no salvation outside the catholic church". you would think if the catholic church were not true, that it would have contradicted itself at some point in two thousand years. the only things that count are statements that are authoritative, things that could be considerted "infallible". the pope, intentionally, teaches, the church, on faith and morals. that is the criteria. it includes many councils and other statements by popes....

"atheism" is not merely Lack of Belief but believing that God doesn't exist

SavedByChrist94
Controverter

Lack of belief, or not believing leaves with only 2 possible reasons for the lack of belief, 1, Uncertainty, which is "agnosticism" 2, believing that no god exist, which is an assertion If it isn't the 2nd then one isn't an "atheist" but an "agnostic", therefore making "atheism"'s definition to believing that no deity/deities exist....

bible is not clear if we are justified by faith alone or if works are required in justification

dairygirl4u2c
Cutiepuffle

to lay the best examples of the ambiguity, we have two apparently conflicting versions of the story of abraham and his justification. james 2 20You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is uselessd ? 21Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Ab...
