========== Introduction ========== I will make my case and address the most common arguments presented by the mythological Jesus camp. The Historicity of Jesus as reported by extrabiblical sources, biblical sources, and basic logic: ========== The Case of Tacitus ========== 1. Tacitus was an early Roman historian who wrote early in the 2nd century. In his writings we have a reference to Jesus as the founder of Christianity and his being crucified under the thumb of Pontius Pilot....

Note: the "1C" notation in the Topic title is simply for searching purposes. [Definition - Existence] http://dictionary.reference.com...... 1. the state or fact of existing; being. *NOTE* I am not debating whether or not a God exists in one's MIND, but rather in REALITY. God

I think God is real because, what else would have made the world? The Big bang wouldn't work because, the meteors that created the world or the stars that exploded, where would they have come from? Something had to have created everything right? Evolution doesn't make much sense considering what's said above how, where would the first things come from. There has to be something here first to be able to have this many things here now....

God can, and has sinned

sleepingviper

God created the 10 commandments and gave them to Moses. Among these are "Thou shalt not commit adultery" and "Thou shalt not murder." Adultery in biblical times meant a married woman having intercourse with someone other than her husband. Although Mary was not technically married to Joseph, the intent was there and they were married in all but name. There is a minor technicality here in that God only tempted Mary into being unfaithful and granting the use of her body to him instead of being...

Catholicism is more morally admirable than Protestantism

Aziar44
beem0r

I will argue here that Catholicism is more morally admirable than Protestantism, as a whole. In the tenets in which the two differ, Catholicism is more admirable. It is more consistent in its stances, preaches better morals, and its principles have more positive ramifications than those of Protestantism. I will go into more detail in the next rounds. My opponent must debate that Protestantism is more morally admirable than Catholicism. Thank you to whomever accepts this challenge....

Intelligent Design should not be taught as science.

Aziar44
mongeese

Intelligent Design theory is not science. It should not be taught as an alternative to evolutionary theory and it has no place in schools. For this argument, I will say public high schools/elementary schools in the United States, to be more specific. Again, Intelligent Design (ID) should NOT be taught as an alternative theory to evolution. ID is laden with religious undertones and is religiously motivated. If it is religiously motivated, then it is not constitutional based on the establi...

Only religion prevents disharmony

Lexicaholic

Baggins made the following statement in this debate: http://www.debate.org/debate/8519/ "Human beings would indeed descend into great disharmony and oppression on its own. Only the presence of religion can prevent that." I challenged Baggins but he declined. As a result, I have opened this debate to the general public. I would like to argue with my opponent about the belief that religion alone prevents disharmony. As I would like to debate this topic seriously, there will be no syntax o...
