Death Penalty Should it be enacted?

Shadowps9
Puck

The death penalty, the act of putting criminals to death by the state for committing a criminal offense. First I would like to say hello to my opponent whoever it may be and I shall start the debate. I like to keep my arguments short and sweet so I will try to do so. I believe that the death penalty should be carried out in situations where the criminal has killed another person unless it was by accident, or to defend his or another living person's life. "An eye for an eye" as the old say...

A just society ought not to use the death penalty as a form of punishment.

Cg09
imjustme

Just Society: a society that is deemed just due to its moral and just actions to remain just Punishment:a temporary penalty inflicted for an offense, fault Ought: different from should according to David Hume's philosophy of moral judgment. A just society is one in which the very basic principle of justice is upheld and promoted within a society, that principle is that of remaining moral. Every individual has their own interpretation of justice, but every theory of justice links back to its...

People must be propely and fairly punished for their crimes. For example, if a forty year old murdered somebosy, then he or she should be hung. But if a child murdered someone, then the child should be flogged....

liberty
pokemon1571

Greetings everyone, I want to discuss the issue of the death penalty. The death penalty is a favorite debate topic and this debate could go either way depending on the arguments. I have chosen to debate against it because I don't believe in taking away lives no matter what the reason. In a nutshell I believe the following: The death penalty is a violation of the most basic human right, the right to live which is also one of the basic principles on which the United States of America was found...

Those who oppose the Death Penalty should also appose abortion on demand.

I often hear people denunciate the practice of capital punishment because it's inhmane. Although I disagree, I understand the perspective. What puzzles me is the large percentage of those whom I discuss the issue are, in fact; pro-choice. Some become reticent when I include partial birth abortion, but still support the practice for reasons other than the mothers' life being endangered. I find that to be a conundrum. . ....

Death Penalty- Killing 3 times and your NOT out...

pawletoe
burningpuppies101

I read buringpuppies101's Big Issue and what side he went for on death penalty. First, I'd like to say, it is morally correct to punish a criminal with death. We don't need criminals who have brought death to our fellow citizens. We don't need criminals who rape or murder. I first believe they should serve prison time for the first murder, obviously. But if that criminal has been to jail and still murders, it is common sense jail has not changed the person. He/she must serve another more e...
