the death penalty

nater
stropheum

hello, I first want to say I am in total favor of the death penalty. I don't think it is fair that we let guilty murderers free, but i don't feel great about it. Look at it like this you do something kind to someone else, they return the favor. You kill someone and even worse don't feel bad about it then well for shame on you. When you kill someone out of anger it is so unjust, you take a family member and even worse you hurt youself not physicaly but mentally. The rest of your life you have t...

Socrates did not deserve the death penalty

stropheum
MoonDragon613

My argument is simple: -->Socrates was unjustly accused of his crimes which put him to death. These crimes are: 1:Impiety 2:Corrupting the youth I will provide a brief opening statement, and whoever shall accept this challenge can create their opening statement based on that. -->The first charge of Impiety was a ridiculous statement because as he stated in the Apology, the very reason he began his travels, cross examining many artisans and politicians was because of the Delphi ora...

The death penalty by lethal injection is too lenient a punishment compared to life in prison.

leethal
Zeldafan69

A lot of people are against the death penalty because they feel it is too harsh a punishment. I'm personally against it because I don't feel that it is harsh enough on those truly deserving of punishment. As long as it is done painlessly, the death penalty is over before it begins. Sure, it must be psychologically punishing to know, to the day, when you will die, but this is the only punishment the death penalised prisoner will receive. Once the injection has been made, the criminal slowly f...

Tell me why you think that you have the right to take another persons life if they take another or otherwise why do we get to take the life with chemicals and drugs that we inject to their body. studys show that it could take hours to kill that person or seconds. now in my book and in most that is not humane to do i think that it is wrong to kill any one exept for serial killers they should suffer. and then i can already tell that you are one of those people who say that it is wrong to keep some...

Pluto2493
cynicalbanana

Good day, Ladies and Gentlemen. In this case, I will prove to you why the United States should abolish the death penalty. I thank my (possible) opponent for accepting this debate, and I ask that the voters vote based on the arguments presented. Any RFD's would be apprieciated. The resolution is pretty straight-forward, so I will get right down to my case. CONTENTION I: Capital Punishment does not deter crime. There have been numerous studies that indicate that the death penalty does...

Resolved: A just society ought not to use the death penalty as a form of punishment.

If I can prove to you that use of the death penalty is just then you must vote negative. So justice is the superior value we are trying to achieve in this debate. In order to achieve justice, a society must have an efficient justice system. It must give each their due and nothing else. If a criminal who killed a number of individuals is not given the death penalty, but rather some other failed form of punishment, society then fails to practice justice because it failed to give that criminal what...

Death Penalty Should it be enacted?

Shadowps9
Puck

The death penalty, the act of putting criminals to death by the state for committing a criminal offense. First I would like to say hello to my opponent whoever it may be and I shall start the debate. I like to keep my arguments short and sweet so I will try to do so. I believe that the death penalty should be carried out in situations where the criminal has killed another person unless it was by accident, or to defend his or another living person's life. "An eye for an eye" as the old say...

A just society ought not to use the death penalty as a form of punishment.

imjustme

Just Society: a society that is deemed just due to its moral and just actions to remain just Punishment:a temporary penalty inflicted for an offense, fault Ought: different from should according to David Hume's philosophy of moral judgment. A just society is one in which the very basic principle of justice is upheld and promoted within a society, that principle is that of remaining moral. Every individual has their own interpretation of justice, but every theory of justice links back to its...
