Black Rednecks and White Liberals

Paradigm_Lost
Danielle

I recently read a book entitled "Black Rednecks and White Liberals," written by a senior fellow at the Hoover Institute, a conservative think-tank on the Stanford University campus. http://www.tsowell.com/Rednecks.htm Needless to say, the book is compelling and chock-full of well-sourced material lending credence to his suppositions. There are a myriad of topics contained within the book, however, as the title of the book suggests, I would like to discuss, well, black rednecks and white li...

Abortion Is Morally Permissible in Most Cases for which It Occurs

schoolglutton
frank_gore_is_da_best

Claim: Abortion Is Morally Permissible in Most Cases for which It Occurs Argument: Over 98% of abortion cases happen prior to the 21st week of pregnancy(1). Over 59% of abortion cases happen prior to the 9th week of pregnancy(1). My argument will rest on maintaining that abortion is morally permissible at least up to nine weeks into the pregnancy. 1. http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/fb_induced_abortion.html...

Breast feeding in public should be embraced by Americans, and excepted.

candice
Jlconservative

Other countries around the world are very comfortable with breastfeeding. I recently saw a picture of Hugo Chavez talking to, and embrassing a Venezuelan citizen openly breastfeeding. What do you think George Bush would do if he saw a woman breastfeeding while shaking hands? Why are American's so closed off and sometimes offended by women feeding they're babies naturally? Breastfeeding is the healthiest choice for your infant. There are no antibodies in formula. The fat's in breast milk help...

Animal rights is an unjustified ethical doctrine.

TheSkeptic
Lexicaholic

I thank my opponent for accepting this debate - I've been wanting to have this debate with my opponent specifically for awhile, so I hope this turns out well. To put it simply, it seems that Charlie here is one of the more prominent PETA advocates on this website, with his slew of PETA debates. Since it seems to be quite evident that he is in favor of PETA, one can easily draw the conclusion that he is also an animal right's activist - after all, if he isn't then he'd most likely be a hypocri...

Should homosexual marriage be alowed?

TheLastEmperorOfDebate
LakevilleNorthJT

Its true that each person have their rights to marry whomever they choose, but how would their children feel about having 2 dads or 2 moms?,if say the couples would adopt children. Then there's a probability that their children will be homosexuals too, and that probability is pretty great, since their parents are homosexuals therefore creating an influence on their children, just like straight parents raise straight kids, creating an influence on the kids....

Why shouldn't gay marriage be legal

mariahsaywhaaa
uiop

Gay marriage should be legal, since when does anyone get off by being able to tell someone else how to live there life. If we claim we have equal rights then we should practice what we preach and allow same sex marriage. How would allowing two people weather they be the same sex or not get married affect the whole world? In reality it should only affect that couple, and everyone else should mind there own business....

Being a stay at home mom is one of the most important jobs a woman can do.

candice
Logical-Master

As a mother, of two very young children (and 7 month old a 22 month old to be exact) I consider myself to have a job. My job is to raise two healthy, happy independent people. My children are not just babies to me. They are people I'm shaping, and preparing for this world. What you do while your children are in your home effects them when they're out of of your home. When did being a stay at home mother become some kind of a let down for women in the eyes of society? The aptitude of a female isn...

People treat the debates like a poll. "Vote for who you already agreed with." and I can Prove it.

bsergent
solo

I've lost nearly all my debates to people who have clearly never debated anything before in their lives and have no respect for logical or scientific rigor. People treat the voting period like a poll or a survey. I even find myself tempted to do this. I'm going to launch a series of debates to prove it....

MANBEARPIG is a greater threat than Hillary Clinton, just barely

littlelacroix
zander

"They're already dead, didn't you listen to me? They got attacked by Manbearpig and Manbearpig leaves no one alive, I'm super cereal! And nobody'll listen to me. I'm cereal!" ~The character portraying Al Gore in South Park I can't believe that even I'm going to say this, but Hillary Clinton isn't a threat; at least not in comparison to ManBearPig. Hillary will only begin to destroy lives of many Americans if she is to become President, but Manbearpig will completely abolish mankind to the fir...

Wal-Mart is good for America

crazypenguin
Kleptin

Thank you for joining this debate, I will first state a couple of my points, Wal-Mart does more harm than good by paying lower wages, decreased health care benefits and squeezing competitors out of the market. With the "squeezing" part, Playing the same old game when Wal-Mart comes to town just won't cut it in most cases. Also when Wal-Mart came to US counties from 1987-1998 the poverty lines all rose drastically. Wal-Mart built it's new Mega-Store right outside Huntington so it didn...
