Gay marriage should be legal within the United States.

I'd like to thank my opponent for accepting this debate before hand. RULES) 1) No semantic arguments. We are debating over the issue, not over the wording that I put the issue into. 2) Use common sense. We should use common sense, and not twist the ideologies of each person's argument merely to win the argument. 3) No insults. This is a clean debate. It should not devolve into a flame war. 4) The Neg has the responsibility of providing an argument as to why gay marriage should n...

Gay marriage should be legal

I have been reading some recent debates on here on this very popular issue, and I'm finding that most of them are, well, bad. I have done this debate a few times in the past, but I felt as though I could input my opinion, since I don't like what the others are saying. I myself am not homosexual. I will say though, I would be very happy for my good friend Nicole, who happens to be lesbian, if she gets married. Unfortunately, that is not legal in the state of Oregon. Now, I know that marriage w...

Gay Marriage: Is God pro or con?

DebateGirl

I would like to challenge anyone to this arguement. I want to hear others opinions on this subject also.. I believe that God loves all his children whether they are gay, straight, black, white, etc. Therefore, I think he wants all of us to be happy and in love regaurdless to gender. If it is not in the ten commandments I don't believe that any of us should say whether its a sin or not....

gay marriage and why transsexual once had the right to marry now doesnt

tempus_erus

Well i once had the right as a straight transsexual to arry a man now i do not. In my beliefs depending on school has no problem with transsexuals and gays, the rule was brought up because monks were celibate but pandaks transsexuals were coming on to them plus this was added later in the sutras after the gautama buddha. so in theory buddhism has no problem. Their are varous groups in christen/catholic/islam/jewish tranditions that accept gay marriage and is not agaisnt god. gautma buddha sa...

Gay Marriage ought to be legalized in the United States.

INTRODUCTION: I'd like to welcome my opponent to the first round of the ToC. Before we begin, I'd like to make a few clarifications regarding the resolution. First, I'd ask that my opponent avoid any semantics arguments (i.e. Gay Marriage is already legal in SOME states, etc.) as the resolution implies legalization of gay marriage at the federal level. Second, the resolution also implies that gay marriage should be recognized in the U.S. so long as heterosexual marriage is legally recognized...

Gay Marriage

I have no problem with gay marriages because I think the president has no right to tell someone who can and or whom they can't marry. It's the same as saying the opposite sex can't get married. I think it's unfair to those people because this is a "free" country and if marrying the same sex is what you want than I approve, but they need to have boundaries. I think in public they shouldn't display acts of affection to one another while kids are present because than they start thinking all kinds o...

Gay marriage

Gay marriages ought to be allowed because we need to respect them at rational and consenting human beings with the right to life liberty and property. Moreover, the right to marry does not impede our rights in any way and therefore it is not the governments place to prevent equal treatment. Furthermore, the tradition of marriage has been a fluent and evolving beast that will not be deteriorated by the allowance of free individuals to commit to each other in the name of love and commitment....

Gay Marriage

The struggle to illegalize what men and women do in their own bedrooms is sickening, and the religious right has far too much of a stronghold in politics. There should be full, unequivocal equality in marriage for same-sex couple. Gays and lesbians should enjoy the full set of rights that I experience in my marriage. This nation was founded under freedom of religion (or even freedom from religion) and on separation from church and state. Furthermore, those who claim that their moves to illegaliz...
