Everyday millions of BTUs of carbon dioxide are released into the atmosphere. Because of these greenhouse gases, global warming is occurring. Global warming is the theory that the earth is getting hotter due to greenhouse gases, the ice caps in Antarctica are melting rapidly, tornadoes and hurricanes are getting stronger IE Katrina. Temperatures across the globe will rise and droughts will occur. Global warming is occurring due to various human activity, such as using oil in cars, factories,...

TV is unnessecary to a child's life

proaz
cheekyhobo

1) TV is bad for health. Once they start watching TV, they get hooked on and do not see the time fly by. The brain is more shutdown when watching TV than when people are sleeping. Because they waste all their time, they do not have enough time to exercise. They would think that TV is a much better entertainment than exercise. Also, many people start eating junk food when watching TV. This creates obesity. Most homes in America have TV's and they are a factor to why America has the largest obesit...

It is unethical to buy an SUV

crazypenguin
figoitalia

Thank you for joining this debate, First I will state my points, SUVs are harmful to the environment. SUVs use a lot of gas, more than most other cars, so there is more gas emissions and contributes to global warming like two regular cars. >> SUV owners collectively paid almost $9 billion – $350 each – more for gasoline in 2002 in the United States than they would if SUVs were as fuel-efficient as the average car. This translates into 151 million extra barrels of oil consumed in the U...

It is noble to believe in God without requiring proof of his existence.

HandsOff
ComradeJon1

Why are so many religious people so bent on trying to prove there is a god? Believers are sacrificing nothing if they have to secure proof of God before they are willing to believe. If one believes he has solid proof of God's existence, he has avoided suspending his reasoning in order to believe. He is therefore taking no risk, no leap of faith, and is making no intellectual sacrifice whatsoever. Regardless of whether he is correct, he is nestled in the comfort of his logic. Why is that nobl...

People voting on their personal opinions rather than debate content.

bigdog
polka-dots323

After reviewing some debates, one person seems to always presented the best information, the most facts/figures, and proper grammar while the other person was the opposite. When the voting comes in, the person with the more "popular" viewpoint tends to win. My argument is that the question is "Who won the debate" not "Which side of the issue do you agree with". Is winning a debate more than saying what is popular? I am getting the feeling that on this site, the popular view points will almost al...

The Burden of Proof should be Optional, not Necessary

Darth_Grievous_42
Kleptin

After reading many debates, it seems that the words "burden of proof" comes up a lot. I do not think it is fair that someone should HAVE to back their evidence up, but rather it should be optional. Evidence, of course, adds to any debate. If someone wants to give a good argument on why "Nazi's were good people", they should probably have a good amount a proof as to why they can say something that goes completely against the common grain. There is a staggering amount of evidence to say that they...

Blind people should be allowed to drive cars just like everyone else.

solo

I think allowing blind people to drive cars on the road without the ability to see is wreckless and should never be allowed. Blind folks can wait until technology develops to the point where cars can drive themselves, if they do not want to walk themselves to places they want to go....

Nintendo is an awesome system. The games are really good, and the graphics are pretty good (not great like the 360 and PS3, but still good) I will leave my opening statement to that an see what my opponent has to say against Nintendo...

Is Logical Master a person, or machine? I say A.I all the way!

eyeleapy
ShrimPman

I say Logical Master is nothing but a pile of screws and bolts. If you have not noticed him/it in other debates, it clearly shows you its expression to act as a machine would act. He is no he but an it, which get very angry, "If machines can feel anger" when you tell it, it makes no sense on debates, what-so-ever....

Posting links should be against the rules.

Cobjob
foxmulder

Posting links in a debate should be against the rules. It allows debaters to far exceed the character limit set forth as a boundary. Most of the web sites utilized are pure propaganda and do little to further the debate. Anyone can publish anything on the internet, so there is little to keep any of the information accurate....
