Are all people equal?

Sarah9019a
DawsonBruno

Hi! I've noticed a LOT of White Power stuff on the site, but I couldn't accept those debates. I disagree with the White Power movement and I thought it would be enlightening to have a debate. We will argue, Resolved: All humans ought to be treated equitably. I will support equitable treatment, you can oppose it in any way you choose (race-based inequality, gender-based inequality, etc.). Definitions are an argument, so I'm not including them here. Please be civil. BOP shared. I hope thi...

Privacy is an outdated norm in society.

HSeaton
Bilbin

In the 21st century, privacy is no longer the thing it used to be. The vast interconnected web of people we know as the internet, and the access we have to the lives and knowledge of each other, is widely recognized as one of the greatest achievements of our age. However, this does come at a cost: it reduces the privacy of individuals who are involved, trading away some knowledge about themselves in response for the knowledge they gain about everything else. Because of this, privacy of the kind...

Do Aliens Exist?

TheJackofHearts
Doom-Guy-666-1993

Do Aliens Exist? I assert that concerning the philosophical implication and arguments for the existence of aliens are highly weak and do no favors for the alien presupposition to be true. I believe there are no positive arguments for the existence of extraterrestrial life. This Debate will operate by standard rules Round 1- Acceptance of Debate Round 2- Opening Arguments based off belief in Round 1 Round 3- Counter Arguments criticizing the opponent's ideas in Round 2 Round 4- Closin...

It is unreasonable to believe in something that has no reason to exist.

Skeptologist
Sensorfire

Fun little debate purely focused on logical conclusions. I want to argue that it is absolutely Illogical for someone to believe in something which has not demonstrated any objective existence. By that I mean that anyone who experiences something they can not explain through their current understanding and fills it in with god, aliens, big foot, ghosts, etc. is committing intellectual suicide. Basically just giving up on reaching a real conclusion based on what is ACTUALLY happening in our u...

There is no such thing as an 'Immovable Object'

TheTheoreticalPhilosopher
MyGodKilledYourGod

My argument is that there is currently no such thing as an 'Immovable Object'. I argue that is physically impossible to be an immovable object. We are technically traveling through space at an "x" miles/per hour, thus concluding that every object known in existence always moves. Two objects with the exact same force may collide together, but the gravity in the galaxy will still keep the objects moving through the universe. I only know of one way there could be an immovable object. My opponent...

Omnipotence is rational

TheTheoreticalPhilosopher
Sonofcharl

THIS IS A 1 ROUND DEBATE. The purpose of this debate is to make a case that the oxford dictionary website should change its definition of 'Omnipotence' to include the word 'infinite' to be replaced with 'unlimited'. Even though it essentially means the same thing, the latter does not imply the inherent logic "Omnipotence" needs to maintain is the practical use of being a word. Humans are now more imaginative than ever creating new paradoxes to undermine the word "Omnipotence". If we associate th...

Is science the only path to knowledge and truth?

CivilianName295
Sarah9019a

I will be arguing that science is NOT the only path to knowledge and truth and that there are other ways we can know things. I will be arguing against the philosophy of scientism (the belief that science is the only way to knowledge). (Pro) will be arguing that science is the only path to knowledge. Rules: keep debate on topic and make logical arguments and no name callingRound 1: accepting rules and conditions Round 2 Each side giving case for and against scientismRound...
