Overpopulating the Earth

GoOrDin
CynicalOptimist

I think that it is impossible for the human race to overpopulate the earth - considering our resources* - if we increase the population gradually and in a regulated manner to allow the vegetation to keep up with converting rock into biomass which can be eaten. Of course we can outnumber the space, but that is not what I am stipulating. I believe that so long that there is Space to literally live, then the world can produce enough resources to sustain us. If we lived in the planet, then we...

If a Nation denys Reality

Lookingatissues
Briannj17

Not only this nation, America, but the world has turned a blind eye to reality and have decided that if they ignore the problem of a enemy who is attacking them that the enemy will just go away in time and the world will be at peace again. This enemy is like a virulent virus which won't go away if left untreated but will takes down the host nation in which it lives and thrives . This virulent virus lies dormant in the nation body building up a confidence in the nation body that it can in time ad...

The Meaning of life is to support life and create change.

RavenArkBlue
Aguilajoyce

If no living thing supported other life their would be no life. For example leaving a child in the wilderness but plants and animals could not support the child the child would have nothing to eat and therefore die. If plants could not feed other living things animals of all sorts wouldn't be able to sustain life. And other animals would be unable to feed their predators, ect. So, why should a living thing live if life can not continue after it? This provokes creativity and the want to make a ch...

Do "right or wrong" or "natural or unnatural" make valid points in an argument?

JLWilliams
Aguilajoyce

When debating animal rights or issues of religion, I often come across the argument that hurting animals should be banned because it is "wrong" to do so. Another example is how AI development should be avoided because we are "playing God" or making "unnatural" things. I am saying that these are invalid and groundless arguments because of multiple reasons: 1. Morals are pure fabrication of our thoughts, subjective and changing from person to person, so accepting one set of morals means ignorin...

How do atheists rationally know truth from fiction?

ViceRegent
random_noob

Atheists love to live under the delusion that they are the guardians of rationality. But how can they hold this title when they cannot even articulate a rational way to know truth from fiction. If they cannot do this, they are literally ignorant and the ignorant cannot guard anything. So, what atheist can give me a rational way atheists know truth from fiction? Answering this question is the sole purpose for this debate. If you are unable or unwilling to answer this question, do not respond...

Consequentialism is superior to deontological ethics in determining morality.

pianodude2468
Aguilajoyce

1st round is just acceptance. 2nd round is a constructive case. 3rd round will be our only rebuttal. 4th round will be final statements and voters. No new ideas allowed since there will be no time to respond. Also, consequentialism is defined as looking to the ends of an action to determine its moral worth and deontology is defined as looking at the intent of the action. This is just a fun debate so have fun with it. (:...

Passionate_Fighter
Stonehe4rt

Good day Debate.org community. I will start by providing the definitions of evolution and God before I initially start the debate with my contender. Evolution: the process by which different kinds of living organism are believed to have developed from earlier forms during the history of the earth. (as defined by google) God: (in Christianity and other monotheistic religions) the creator and ruler of the universe and source of all moral authority; the supreme being. (as defined by go...
