Free thought is not synonymous with atheism

Pitbull15
Ameliamk1

Many new age atheists that openly oppose religion will tell you that by thinking for yourself, you will be free from religion's supposed tyranny. But is atheism really synonymous with true free thought? I would say that it most definitely isn't and my opponent must argue otherwise. Here's the structure as follows: Round One: Acceptance Round Two: Opening arguments Round Three: Rebuttals to opening arguments (No new arguments will be made.) Round Four: Further rhetorical exchanges between...

Buddhism is better than Christianity

Dwint
donald.keller

I will argue that Mahayana Buddhism is better than Christianity. By better, I mean: - is more reasonable - has higher moral standards - gives life more meaning - doesn't discriminate - doesn't try to convince people to join it I made this debate impossible to accept. If you would like to debate this, leave a comment with your opinion. Structure: Round 1: acceptance Round 2: arguments(no rebuttals) Round 3: rebuttals(no arguments) Round 4: additional arguments/ rebuttals and co...

The Deistic God

Sswdwm
Iredia

Introduction: Myself and Iredia disagree on essentially everything with regards to space, evolution, intelligence and God, so this debate will concentrate in Iredia's side, with particular focus on his interpretation for the requirement of a deity. Format: Iredia will begin his arguments in Round 1 and will leave the final round blank/state "Left Blank as Agreed" in order to have an equal number of rounds (4). No new arguments in the final round, only summarisation and rebuttals. In...

Did Jesus exist?

Nzrsaa
Youth

Welcome everyone. This debate is about whether a historical Jesus existed - i.e someone named Jesus whom the New Testament is based upon. This debate is not concerning the resurrection or divine status of Jesus - only the historical side, with the historical side being that the Jesus of the Gospels existed, apart from the resurrection narrative and miracles. The BOP is shared between Pro and Con. I must attempt to prove that a historical Jesus did exist, and Con must give some form of argu...

YoungZealous
Valtin

my name is Young Zealous on this page I really love to debate then I was going to consider to be a Muslim one day;I look at what the Quran and the Bible said about Jesus this is not a pLaying matter. this Christ Jesus is written in the Old Testament of who he supposed to be when he comes and when he came. This argument will be very easy based on the previous scriptures.so I will give you references to the Scriptures proverbs chapter 30:4 explains of the only Son of God. There is mini sons of God...

Was Jesus actually human?

Ja50n
TalkForLife

Ok so I haven't read the bible yet and this is my first debate so please go easy on me if there's a technical mistake So my argument or thought just popped up. Was Jesus actually human because Mary the Virgin had Jesus the baby so from this there can only be 2 situations. either God imprinted his DNA on the baby or the baby was composed out of Mary's DNA entirely. Both these situations either lead to a conclusion that 1. Jesus was part God part Human or 2. Jesus was a clone out of Mary....

The Catholic doctrine of transubstantiation is false

philochristos
Geogeer

I have exactly 1376 forum posts (it may be different by the time you read this since I plan to post some more), and since Section 1376 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church contains the definition of "transubstantiation," I thought this would be a good time to initiate a debate on the subject.According to the doctrine of transubstantiation, when the bread and wine of the eucharist are consecrated, they cease to be bread and wine and literally become the body and blood of Jesus...

Is Evolution scientific fact, or is it just a theory?

SPYDIR
Mantizah

I I would like to take this opening statement to say some things about what I believe, and why I would ever make the claim that evolution is not scientific fact. First off, what I believe: I believe that God created the world in six literal days, the earth is a young earth, dating six thousand years, Man sinned, and God sent his son to die on the cross for our sins, and that all of scripture is true, and accurate. In this debate, I would like for there to be no straw man arguments, and no r...
