God is Dead

Amarandum
Rjupudi18

I'd like to have a civil, evidence-based debate with someone who really believes in the Abrahamic / Judeo-Christian God. The opponent must agree to the following format and rules: R1: Acceptance Round, where the opponent states their religious persuasion for clarity. R2: Opening Remarks. R3: Pro Question and Answer Round, where Pro asks as many questions as they want, and Con answers all accordingly. R4: Con Question and Answer Round, where Con asks as many questions as they want, and Pro an...

Love is merely an action.

TropaBino
Timothhy

This is a 4 round Debate. In mainstream Christianity love is just an action. You hear things like: "You must love everyone, but you don't have to like them." When people say this, they are implying that Jesus is only asking you to do good things for someone and that you don't need to like them. ---------- I believe this is wrong teaching. In my opinion God is literally asking us to have an emotional connection with everyone. That emotional connection would be the greatest emotion, Love....

Religion and Politics

Timothhy
joseph_locke

Religion has been holding us back as a society and it interferes to much with the decisions we make in government and advances we make in science. Chrisitanity has also been seen as the basis of all american government. Our children have to stand up every morning and say we are one nation under God. There is no evidence for religion so there should be no reason to implament it in our decisions as a nation....

Deism is Not a Rational Alternative to Religion Or Atheism

Amarandum
John_C_1812

Lightning fast mini-debate on why any credence should be given to Deism. Not a debate on God's existence, but rather the pros and cons of a Deistic philosophy. I am for the resolution. R1- Acceptance R2- Openings R3- Rebuttals R4- Closings...

Was Jesus the God or Son of God

slave123
divergent_ambon

Jesus was not the God or Son of God I don't care what bible says it's not true First We must define God or Son of God God is immortal and invincible and invisible I believe God is energy and we are all a part of God With this definition I don't see how Jesus could be the only God Since we are all a part of God Second a Son of God would be a man God begot by having sex with a woman How can energy have sex to beget a son? Unless you believe God is a man with private...

Did God changed Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday

reddogs
daley

Since the Bible from Genesis to Revelation recognizes only the Saturday Sabbath as the weekly day of rest, then how did the practice of Sunday worship come about? What is its origin? Some Christians feel that Sunday should be observed to commemorate the resurrection, but where in the Bible did Jesus or the apostles make such a statement? Who sanctioned the replacement of the Sabbath with Sunday or claims to have done so? If it was God, then why isn't it in the Bible, and if was not God then ther...

Existence of a god

Capitalistslave
TropaBino

My position is not "there is no god" but rather "I lack belief in all gods". I have the default position when it comes to belief in anything, since lack of belief is the default position when there is a lack of evidence. Evidence, would naturally lead to a belief. Lack of evidence leads to lack of belief.Rules of debate:1) Burden of proof lies with pro, because I am not taking an affirmative position.2) Pro should post their arguments in round 1 and waive...

Faith is active and visible, not something that occures "in your heart".

JonHouser
Instant-Gator

Many people quote Eph 2:8 to say that we are saved when we believe, and no action is required on our part. I find this contradictory to other Scripture. I would challenge my opponent to prove that Scripture indicates no action is required on our part to fulfill the faith portion of the passage referenced above. I, on the other hand, will prove that Scripture is very clear that there are certain actions commanded of us before we are united with the cleansing power of the Blood of Christ....
