Ariel Castro VS Jodi Arias (who is worse?)

RocketEngineer
ConservativePolitico

Hello everyone! Based on the two biggest issues on the news during the last week, I think this would be a fun debate. How this will work, is that my opponent will pick one person in round one. This debate will be about determining who is more sick and twisted out of Jodi Arias, and Ariel Castro. I will take either one. Debate will take place in rounds 2 and 3. Thanks in advance to whoever accepts this. :)...

Is Illuminati a real organization?

unalyigit
Axerz

I think, Illuminati is real. They're in everywhere! The world is controlling by this organization. They want to control our brains with some subliminal messages. The nuclear power, money, international companies, banks, wars (for example: September 11).......

Changing gas prices accordingly to citizen travel frequency

FeioH-Niplef
ClassicRobert

It is clearly obvious that there is a commonplace issue with gas prices. Undoubtedly, drivers are always unsettled to the price per-gallon of gas they have to pay when stopping to refuel. For this reason there is controversy over gas price regulation. However, gas prices should be regulated accordingly to citizen seasonal travels.

Don't you think the Boston Bombing was over hyped?

TheAdiDebater
NFLMember

First of all, I understand and acknowledge that the Boston bombing was a terrible event which never should have occurred. But don't you ever stop and think that a big deal is being made out of something substantially smaller? People were even thinking this could be compared to 9/11. On the same day 42 people die in an earthquake in Iraq. But does that receive even a tenth of what the Boston bombings received. No. This can't be defended....

Legalization of Gay Marriage

Magicr
InVinoVeritas

Resolved: The reasons to make same-sex marriage legal in the United States outweigh the reasons not to do so.

(Note: This does not neccessarily refer to a specific jurisdiction within the United States, but rather any jurisdiction within the United States.)

I have made this debate unacceptable for now, as I would like to ensure a good opponent. I have tried this debate a couple of times before and have had forfeits both times.

China is a serious, long term threat to American strategic interests.

Eitan_Zohar
wrichcirw

This is a response to wrichcirw's claim that China is "the next preeminent threat to America": [http://debate.org/forums/politics/topic/28915/]

Allow me to define my position: While I certainly don't think China is not at least a moderate threat to the allies or interests of the US, and I agree on a containment policy, I firmly believe that the current regime is st...

It is most probable that a god exists.

Typhlochactas

Ave!

God is a maximally great being, and by definition, you cannot conceive of anything greater than god.

'Most probable' simply means that it is more possible than its negation. If the theist side's arguments are more plausible than t...

Relaxing the anti-slavery laws would be both morally-sound and economically beneficial

brian_eggleston
utahjoker

Slavery has received a lot of negative press over the years and the adverse public opinion that it generated has led to the trading and keeping of slaves being banned in most developed countries. However, it's now time we asked ourselves if slavery really is such an immoral practice and, furthermore, consider what possible economic benefits the relaxation of anti-slavery laws could bring. MORALITY. In the 17th Century the British led the way in giving the natives of West Africa the opp...
