Racism in America has always been white/non-white, not black/non-black or black/white

Adam2isback
Andrewziv

I will be arguing that white racial hatred in the USA was directed at all non-whites, not just blacks. All non-whites received the worst end of the stick. People of all non-white races got lynched. From the unpunished 1891 New Orleans lynching, the 1930 unpunished Indiana lynching, to the unpunished attacks on Japanese homes in California, to the unpunished lynching of Charles Thurber in North Dakota, 1882, to Lincoln's wars again Sioux and his attempt to deport non-whites,...

whatitsworth
Discipulus_Didicit

If we colonize a planet it mostly likely would be mixed based on Color, Creed, Sex, Race, Sexuality, etc. But would Religion destroy the colony because Humans always seem to find a way to destroy others beliefs because they may inflict pain on one another. There was about Nine crusades to promote religion by force in the middle east could it happen again?...

Does Charlie Hebdo Magazine deserve the 'courage' award from PEN?

LouisLion
Elord

No. What Charlie Hebdo did was not courageous. It was just plain stupid. I'm all for free speech but there's a fine line between making harmless jokes about people's ethnicity/religion and actually saying things that are offensive. Charlie Hebdo crossed that line. Charlie Hebdo was first attacked for distributing a magazine with a caricature of Muhammad on it. What was the next thing Charlie Hebdo did? THEY DISTRIBUTED ANOTHER COMIC OF MUHAMMAD. The result was Muslims rioting in Niger, kil...

Social Empiricism Is Aristocratically Elitist

Daktoria
zhangwn

Before starting, let me clarify that "aristocratic elitism" refers to social status which is endowed upon birth. This is in contrast to meritocratic elitism which refers to social status that is developed after birth. The nature of social empiricism understands that evidence should be used to model how people get along. We learn about facts from experience, and make decisions based on those experiences. The problem with empiricism is it ignores the innate inequality of people's access to...

Acquiring the Puritan Work Ethic

melaniejanehock
Milton.Pullen

Over two hundred years ago, America was founded on principles that have changed over the course of these many years. The Puritans had a way of living that was based off of the bible, and that contained morally strong work ethics. However, after a long period of time and in insurmountable amount of changes done within our society, Americans have lost majority of these principles. This has lead to the suffering of the attitude the United States holds against hard work. This lack of hard work has c...
