Cake or Pie?

AbbyH
jarlbank

Many love a sweet treat every now and then, I know I do! :) But what is actually the best? The delicious fluff of a well baked cake topped with creamy or whipped icing? With such beautiful designs! :OR: The flavorful smell of dough and fruit wafting from the nearest window? With their own designs checkered or forked across the top. What will you choose? Pros for PIE and Cons for CAKE! Ready? Set? GO!...

If a God is Omniscient, Omnipotent, and Omnibenevolent, then Free Will Does Not Exist

BrandonMS
Aerogant

This is a rather simple concept: If there is an omniscient, omnipotent, and omnibenevolent deity, can absolute free will exist? I say no, and am therefore Pro. I have seen this definition of a god be used to define specifically the Abrahamic god several times and will thus be focusing largely on that in my opening statement, but it may describe any god the opponent wishes. Biblical, religious, and philosophical verses and references are allowed to be used as points. Because of the subject of...

An open discussion about religion in general

kellydrake18
Secular_Mike

I am not pro-religion or anti-religion necessarily. I do believe that religion is a good thing for some people. It helps answer their questions. It gives them something/someone to look to in times of need. It gives them hope. In a perfect world, religion sounds great. However, we don't live in a perfect world. In the modern imperfect world, religion is a controversial issue. Terrorism is the result of different religious beliefs. The Catholic church shuns gay people just because of their...

Should abortion be illegal in the United States (In Most Cases)

blimp456
SakuraBlossom950

[Before I go on two things need to be cleared up right away; 1- Things like, "God's will" will not be brought into this debate. 2- Every living organism on Earth in simplicity is either a cell or a mass of cells.] This is how the debate will go; Round 1: Acceptance and initial argument (Usually one sentence long, maybe two) Round 2: Extending argument in more detail Round 3: Rebuttals Round 4: Rebutting Rebuttals (You can only rebut things that were stated in Round 3 by your opponent) And...

Death Penalty

Neily
AlternativeDavid

I believe the death penalty should not be a punishment because I believe it's unnecessary because I believe a life sentence is already a good enough punishment. Also, an innocent person who is believed to have committed murder could receive the death penalty even though they did not commit murder. I also believe that the death penalty might teach people that if somebody murders a loved one of theirs then they should murder them, and this will increase the amount of people committing murder....

Falkland Islanders have the right to Self-determination

BillBonJovi
Siege

The sovereignty over the Falkland Islands has been long disputed between Argentina and the United Kingdom. The people of the Falkland Islands (the Falkland Islanders) have long chosen to remain a British Overseas Territory and in this debate I will argue and provide evidence that the people of the Falkland Islands have the legal right of Self-determination against Argentina's desire to rule over them. In this debate my opponent is to argue and provide evidence that the Falkland...

The Christian God As Described In the Bible Does Not Exist(2)

AlternativeDavid
Becks

Rules Round 1: No arguments. Just acceptance. Round 2/3: Arguments and rebuttals Round 4: Closing statements. No new arguments No "god of the gaps" arguments allowed. Any violation of the rules results in conduct points going to the other debater. Mutual violation results in a tie for conduct. Definitions: God of the gaps: If science can't explain it, god did it. Exist: To be real God of the Bible: Any characteristic of God that can be found in the Bible I look forward to a...

God will let you go your own way all the way to Hell

LifeMeansGodIsGood
Equalityman

The Challenge title says it all for the first round argument. God will let you go to Hell. If you think God won't let you go to Hell, please tell me why. "God does not exist" is not the debate, the debate is not about the existence of God. This debate is about you going to Hell and God not stopping you if you don't care that you are going there. This debate is not about "Hell does not exist" or "God does not exist". This debate is about why God should not let you go to Hell or wh...
