An adult is defined as a person who can own up responsibility of his/her choice. This is a skill that is undeniably linked with access to information. A child of 15 in 2016 is way more informed than what s/he used to be in 1966. There is no well founded reason today to stick to 18 as the limiting age for attaining majority. In fact by doing so we are losing substantial adult franchise.

So I plan to offer 2 reasons why people under 18 should not be allowed to vote.

1. Education- In the United States when you turn 18, you have or almost have completed high-school. So you have more years of education under your belt. 15 year old on the other hand are in 8th- 10th grade typically. Also keep in mind that 15 year old don't have drivers licence because they are not mature enough, in fact they are trying to raise the age for a driver's license.

2. Maturity Level- Some 15 year old are perfectly capable of voting in important issues. But others aren't. And because the government of the United States is based on equality they cannot make a law that states some 15 year old can vote.

@Seagull.
Developement of brains is a life long matter. If you are mentioning the structural growth of brain, 80% of it complete by the age of 2. After 25 human beings utilize pre-frontral cortex for thinking but that does not mean quality of thinking is inferior at any younger age.
A 16 year old accused in a gang rape and murder couldn't be tried under appropriate provisions of law as he was technically juvenile. This person was interviewed and profiled which led to the opinion that he was perfectly fit to own up responsibility of his action.

It's not about responsibility, it is about development. 15 year olds have under developed pre-frontal lobs in their brains. This causes lapses in judgement and makes one more susceptible to outside stimuli. Simply put, adolescents react more often then they act. It has nothing to do with intelligence, it does have to do with an underdeveloped brain.
