A vast majority of all children's cartoon characters, today, have unnecessarily annoying voices!

Well, I know this is a pretty much useless debate, but I'm fed up with this, so I am going to see if any one disagrees. I have several younger siblings, and this just drives me insane.

I guess there is not really much to say…but GOD, they have extremely IRRITATING voices...

It is completely unnecessary, and I do not understand why it is the general tendency of the industry to give them these high-pitched, nasally voices. It gives a general sense of naivety and over the top cuteness that makes me want to punch something. This overly cheesy way of talking makes it hard to be in the same room as the TV. The stupid cartoon characters each have their own unique, irritating voices that make me go half-insane. I GUARANTEE, that if a children's cartoon character was chosen at random, it would be annoying. I do not know WHY the cartoon industry thinks it is amusing or satisfying to hear these voices, which sound like a sick goat, which has been given an excess of sugar, is on speed, has a speech impediment, and a broken nose, which has somehow learned to speak English. In fact, I'm pretty certain that's what it is.

Well. Anyways, I guess I haven't given any evidence…just ranted…but hope someone will rant to the contrary.

Well do you think it would be funny if they just talked like every body else? do you think kids would like to listen to cartoons if they didn't sound weird?

"weird" is a vast understatement.

"do you think kids would like to listen to cartoons if they didn't sound weird?"

Look, listen sir, I am afraid you are getting off topic, let's discuss what REALLY matters, not what "kids would like", what I, HARLAN, LIKE. That is the important issue.

"Well do you think it would be funny if they just talked like every body else?"

Sure it would be funny, family guy is funny, the Simpsons is funny…they don't have nasally voices, do they? Some how, I don't think some monkey guy talking like, I repeat

"a sick goat, which has been given an excess of sugar, is on speed, has a speech impediment, and a broken nose, which has somehow learned to speak English" is very funny, I think it is annoying.

But, seriously…kids don't really care so much, there are a few shows that don't exercise this vile idea, and kids are just fine with it.

Listen I don't know why you think so highly of yourself, but Family guy and the Simpsons have weird voices, did you know that Bart Simpson is a lady do you think she's talking in her normal voice?

"but Family guy and the Simpsons have weird voices, did you know that Bart Simpson is a lady do you think she's talking in her normal voice?"

I did know that, actually. I fail to see how this is "annoying". In fact the actor to which you are referring, Nancy Cartwright, also plays (not including bart):

-Nelson Muntz
-Todd Flanders
-Ralph Wiggum

This just goes to show that she has a versatile voice. And despite whether she has a "weird" voice, that does not make it annoying, at least that is possible to listen to. SO, in conclusion, unless you can prove otherwise, family guy and the Simpsons do not have annoying voices. Some Simpsons characters have annoying voices, but not the main characters, to which most of the jokes revolve around. Family guy, which is probably funnier really, does not have annoying voices at all, except for that one old man guy, and he isn't really all that funny, and I often mute it when he starts talking.

But, in reality, we all know that having an annoying voice rarely is necessary to delivering a joke. I have proof in fact.

On IMDB, probably the most reliable movie source in existence in the "Top 50 Comedy movies by average vote" (http://www.imdb.com...) there are very few movies in which every character has a voice that reaches the level of irritation in most cartoons now. For instance the movie that was voted the best comedy movie in existence was "dr. strange love", after thinking through all of the characters, none of the voices did I find "annoying", while some voices had slight accents such as the cowboy dude who flew the plane. Dr. Strangelove had a slightly strange voice, but it did not at all make it funnier. Many of the funniest characters just had regular voices.

Also, do stand up comedians have high pitched, nasally voices? No. And they are very funny.

I remain that the voices held by the characters of today's cartoon characters do not make it any funnier, they only make it irritating.

I think that you can be funny and have an annoying voice. Thats just another reason to laugh at it cause they have weird voices, only you think that the voices are annoying. If you really think they have annoying voices why do you watch it?
