Here, vegetarian is non religious.

The question of how far we should extend the hand of human compassion has long been a question at the forefront of moral debate. Do we not eat humans for the reason that they are sentient or for the reason that they are human? Surely we are not giving compassion to the human body with sentience removed, that is but a bag of flesh and bones. So if consideration is only on the sentience part, why then is that respect restricted to human sentience?

The decision of meat eating is absent to the herbivore and infinitely costly to the carnivore. But humans, with both the ability in thought and the omnivore flexibility in diet gives us the decision and, with it being available, the obligation to make the decision.

I seek to counter the moral reasons for a vegetarian diet without evoking the all too common call for the naturalistic fallacy.

I hope we can push each other to explore deeper into this perplexing topic.
