In the argument of abortions, there are two sides. Of these two sides, life is the most important. Abortion gives women the power to kill an unborn child, but laws created by politicians are not rights. No human is supposed to be above another in such away that one is in danger of dying. Abortion however, exercises this right.

Pro

Disregard the analysis in Con speech 1. They give no proof as to the fact that abortion is not the most controversial issue since slavery. The PRO burden is to show that abortion is the most controversial issue since slavery. Since Con does not deny this, vote Pro.

The topic of debate was abortion, and by putting it after a colon it merely stated something about the topic, but abortion and the question of its illegality is the main topic.
LakevilleNorthJT

Pro

When posting a debate....the top is for topic. The topic of this debate thus is whether or not abortion is the most controversial issue since slavery. Until you prove otherwise, I win.

If you go to the MLA website, the title is what is on top, but if there is text after a colon, that is an idea, but not the subject of the debate.

First, this has nothing to do with citing sources so that is irrelevant. This is a debate website and thus anything at the topic is referred to as the resolution or debating topic. The goal is to base arguments around that resolution and arguments that are not resolutional are refered to as untopical and not looked to in the round. Thus with that said, you have still not argued the topic but are rather trying to argue the fact that the resolution is the main basis of the round. If it was not then I could have a resolution saying Ponies are blue and then argue in round that George Bush is a bad president. I have won this round because you have failed to argue the resolution which states that abortion is the most contereversial issue since slavery.

GEEEEZ, all I wanted was to be able to get enough characters into the title so that we could talk about abortion, which is the real issue. Besides, to go against this, I could say that the Vietnam War was much more controversial than abortion because of what the government was doing and how many opposed it.

Nothing was refuted. Thus we assume its true. Disregard Vietnam because it was brought up too late in the round.

The college students gathered a momentum that swept the whole country. Sadly, the Right to Life March has only about 100,000 each year and when such acts are demonstrated elsewhere it is generally by individuals, while Vietnam protests were held in numbers of thousands in cities throughout the U.S.

This was not responded to thus you vote PRO.

How can you prove a resolution until it's meaning is either agreed upon or successfully established, my good Im_Always_Right?

It's called a semantical argument.

Ummm, Weren't they supposed to fight about abortion, not the title of the argument?

No! Why didn't Con point it out? T.T

"The funny thing is, the burden of proof is actually on Pro."

That doesn't mean anything debate-wise if Con doesn't point it out. :P

What is this? You have two chances to refute that point. Don't be a wimp.

The funny thing is, the burden of proof is actually on Pro. Con doesn't have to do anything but disprove Pro, but Pro has nothing to disprove. And Pro's only remaining argument is in the very last round, so Con won't have a chance to refute it.
Default Con win.

Oh my, semantics semantics semantics.

Silly con, why are you going down a losing semantics road (pro's right as far as it goes) when you can just point out that Pro has provided no evidence that it is the most controversial issue since slavery, when the burden of proof is his? lulz
