Con

It makes no sense to take away a fetuses right to live just to make your life easier. It is an independent human with it's own dna. And is morally wrong to execute a defenceless, unborn child. I am pro-life because i stand for the rights of the unborn and give a voice to the voiceless. No mother should be judge, jury, and executioner on their own child.
KonstanBen

Pro

I affirm.
Argument 1: reproductive coercion
Pregnancies aren't always because of mistakes. reproductive coercion is the idea of forced pregnancies inflicted upon women. This is a common trend in the U.S. [1]
Argument 2: Racism
Five times as many blacks in the US abort than whites. Any action against abortion is an act of racism [2]

Con

1 rebuttal: I Overeacted with the title,my bad i'm new to this site. but anyways if a woman gets forcefully pregnant ( which is a very rare occurence) then she still has no right to kill her unborn child because that child has a unique dna that is different from the mother's. Therefore, the child is not part of the mother and human being that should have the right to live
http://www.operationrescue.org...

2: Having a right to kill your child is not racist.

Pro

Human being
A fetus is not a human being. Google definitions defines human being as having qualities such as "superior mental development, power of articulate speech" Killing human being is awful. However, not aborting can result in a mother's death and this is not killing a human being
Racism
Has not been refuted. Look at the source. By disallowing abortion, you are disproportionately hurting minorities
Reproductive coercion
There are variety of circumstances warranting abortion w/o moms fault
Debate Round No. 2

Con

-Yes it is a human being biologically speaking because
a. It comes from human parents
b. It has a unique DNA
c. Fully independent
https://www.google.com...
-A fetus is part of the homosapien species which makes it a human being
-Denying a woman's right to kill her unborn child is not racism. I don't consider this as a viable arguement because there are many flaws.
-Yes i understand, i Over reacted with the title.

Pro

Human being
We used the same definition and a fetus clearly doesn't meet it. A fetus is not independent as it depends on its mother to live.
Racism
Disallowing abortion will have a harsher effect on minorities. This is institutional racism.
Reproductive coercion
Whether my opponent overreacted or not, this is the topic we are debating. It is not always the fault of the women.

You will be voting Aff on the following reasons. Anti abortion legislation is institutionalized racism. Not girls' fault

Calling anti-abortion racism is stupid. More African Americans getting abortions as opposed to European Americans simply means that African Americans chose to do it more than European Americans. Of course there is reason for that. If you know anything about the African American community you'd know that many of the fathers leave the mother and child. There are certain hard situations that make it very hard on some Women. But the bible says that sex is for marriage, and marriage is for life. If this principle was kept, there would be no hard situations. Therefore no one will stand in the judgment of the All Mighty guiltless.
Another problem is that people are basing weather or not an unborn child is a human based on humans' messed up idea of what a human is instead of on God's definition of a human.
And touching on racism again: We all come from three brothers, sons of Noah. There is only one race, that is the race of three brothers, and thus all of mankind. Discriminating and African American is to Discriminat your brother, not another race.
The term racism comes from the idea that humans evolved, and thus setting "blacks" at the bottom of the "smart humans" list.

I see that you're undecided in your profile concerning abortion... I think you should get a little decided. :)

:) I'm just going by the fact that Con did not fulfill his BoP or support his claims.

Without the bible there would be nothing wrong with abortion, but with the bible there is everything wrong with abortion.

Genesis 9:5-7
And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of Man. Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: For in the image of God made he man. And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; being fourth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.
Jeremiah 1:5
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee.
God has a purpose chosen for every individual even before they enter the womb. Whe you slaughter a baby, you are ripping his God given purpose from him. A baby's life does not start upon exiting a womb. What makes the baby alive is the same thing that makes us adults alive.... Or heart is beating.
Emily, you should know from the Yehudi tradition of counting age, that a baby's life is said to start upon conception, and not birth. Also, by killing a baby from the womb, you are acting against the blessing of God, be fruitful and multiply. Abortion is a cursed thing, and all participating make themselves an object of God's wrath.

It's racist to deny a choice that is mainly used by African Americans

Did you seriously argue that it's racist to prevent more black deaths? He didn't offer a rebuttal, so it stands but wow.

[RFD part 3]

As well as the lack of evidence provided in his argument, Con essentially drops Pros racism argument, stating only that it has "flaws". Without outlining these flaws; Pro again makes an unsupported claim.

Pro then states that both used the same definition source, and that therefore Cons argument about the fetus has not been met. Which is correct as the source *did* correspond with Pros argument more. Pro concludes his argument by reiterating that pregnancy is not always the woman's fault, meaning that abortion should remain.

Because Con outlined a number of unproved claims, the most notable being that a fetus is independent and not part of the mother, my vote goes with Pro. He supported his racial argument with a valid source and highlighted that, technically, a fetus is not defined as a human being.

RFD part 1]

Con starts out with both an unclear and grammatically incorrect resolution, which should be noted. He then begins round one by stating that a fetus is an "independent human", which is an unsupported claim in itself. Con failed to explain *how* a fetus could be an independent human being when it is still undeveloped and unable to survive out of the womb. These kind of assertions alone give Con an extremely large BoP to fulfill.

Pro outlines his argument for round one by stating that not all pregnancies are mistakes and that pregnancies can forced onto women, which are far more supportable claims. However, Pros uses a faulty link for his first source. Pro then argues that because black women abort five times as many as white women, outlawing abortion would result in racism. This is fairly supported by the large number and the second source provided by Pro, which goes into the racial gap in U. abortion.

[RFD part 2]

Con admits to making a mistake with the resolution but then continues with the claim that the child [which is still a fetus] "is not part of the mother and a human being that should have the right to live", which as previously referenced, is an almost impossible claim to support. The fetus is developing in the womb, so is thus part of the mother.

Pro responds by stating that a fetus is not a human being, as a human being is defined by being developed and having the power of articulate speech. He further argues that in disallowing abortion minorities would be the most impacted; which is supported by his previous source. He outlines again that an abortion can occur for a variety of reasons, many of which are not the mothers fault.

[RFD part 3]

Con proceeds with the argument that a fetus is a human being, based on it being created by human parents and having DNA. He again claims that a fetus is fully independent, which only serves to undermine his argument. Cons only source is a Google dictionary definition.

What does racism have to do with abortion? I don't get that part. Also, since the fetus is alive and (like RobieKhan said,) has DNA, it should be considered human. The Merrium Dictionary states that: Medical Definition of FETUS
: an unborn or unhatched vertebrate especially after attaining the basic structural plan of its kind; specifically : a developing human from usually two months after conception to birth"compare embryo.
A fetus has a basic structure of a human; therfore it is a human. Even if the fetus is a stage before a human baby, it has the charateristics of a human. It should have the right to live. Also, if the mother wants abortion, why didn't she take precautions? She should have been careful, not the baby. The baby should be unharmed, for it has done nothing wrong.

Reasons for voting decision: Con used scientifically inaccurate terminology, and centered his/her arguments on the emotional appeal that it's "wrong to kill your child," despite not being able to prove that a fetus is a human being (he/she actually disproved themself when they said the fetus was "fully independent," which it is not). Pro's argument regarding racism was one I had never heard before, and was refreshingly creative.
