Abortion should not be aloud unless very harmful to the mother.

Pro

This should not be aloud, because it is just terrible. Killing one of God's creations for selfish purposes. Even if the child was created by rape, dont kill it! Give it up for adoption. If you made the mistake of getting pregnant, I think you should be the one to take care of the child sense you thought you were responsible enough to have "safe" sex out of marrage!

Thanks for the debate.

Your argument, that a fetus is a creation of God so we shouldn't kill it, doesn't make any sense. Let's suppose for a second that indeed, God created the living things on Earth. Well, each time you eat - even a plant -, you kill a creation of God, don't you ? God being by definition a perfect being, he knew what he did when he created us with the feeling of hunger, so either he made us evil from birth on, or he doesn't mind. Point is, God can't be anymore angry at mankind for abortion than for everything else.

So, once we put aside the religious aspect of the question, let's get on the interesting part : should we morally allow or disallow abortion ? This question is putting the mother's interests against the unborn child's ones. Let's assume for a second that we forbid abortion. Either this child will be an 'orphan' (given to an orphanage) or he will be educated by parents who consider him from start more a burden than a chance. Would you really want to live a life like that ? Before you answer that question, here is an interesting statistic : 15% of the orphans commit suicide before they rage age 18.

On the other hand, you have a mother who has to bear a child she doesn't want. This will often have dramatic consequences in her life, disallowing further studies for example. Disallowing abortion puts a major hiatus on her future, and thus on the future of eventual other children. All by all, I think it can be considered that the interests of that one child who would probably live a life of misery, can't justify the denial of the right of a woman to dispose of her own body...

Your arguments are completely irrelevant to this debate, as this is not a religious debate. Furthermore, if you would like to perform a debate with religion withholding any relevance, I suggest you let the opponent know that in the tittle. That way, your opponent would be arguing from a religious point of view.

Regarding your other arguments, con has successfully refuted your arguments, as well as showing his burden of proof.

This debate goes to con.

I didn't want to be the one to say this but you, do know "aloud" should be spelled as "allowed." Otherwise I would say that I like your style but you needed a bit more room to debate.

He is God he can kill what he wants! He made the commandments for us! You may think right now he is controdicting himself! But he is not. He says here are the commandments that I say unto "You" Is murder not a sin? It isnt even murder alone He cannot sin and he has not. Adam is the reason for all death and sin! So the plauge was brought on by humans not him. Moses warned the king "let my people go." Because he didn't the plauge was set on. Humans fault. The unborn is still a person. Therefore it is wrong.

You have at the very least to admit that there is no proof on whatever side God stands, in respect to abortion. If you believe in the Bible (I don't know enough about the quran, the torah, or any other religious book, to put in a convincing argument about the others, but I'll do my research if that is needed), there is no litteral verse that states that he is against abortion.

As for saying 'he is love' or 'he is for the innocents', let me remind you that the Bible says he killed egyptian children as a plague.

Really, humans are on their own to decide on that matter.

God created humans to give glory to him! not plants. He crated everything else yes! He created man to rule over everything. He told us we could harm everything else but humans. That is only 15%! Their are many children that are given up regularly. An adoption home, chances of finding a parent who cares is 67%! If a fetus brain was able to think it would rather see what life is about and find out for itself. Not be murdered. If a mother gives up her child a doubt that she will give the child to someone who doesn't want it, that makes no sense! You argument is very reasonable however! I am commenting this, because technically the debate is over!

Well typically the fetus will not have time to suffer. How can it possible suffer. With in the first 28 of pregnancy it is barley anything at all. It is a given debate or not. IF the fetus is suffering then why would it be looked upon as an abortion. It is not termination it is looked upon as a better stage. termination is a dirty word. It just sounds terrible.

That is never a given when talking about as big of a controversial issue as abortion. Whatever a person says in debate is usually exactly what they mean.

@IvenMartin That is what the world need personal opinions and that is what I am saying. I didn't think about if the child is suffering though, figured that was a given!

Personally, I think a medical professional should be able to suggest abortion in given situations.

Reasons for voting decision: Very short debate if you could call it that. Pro keeps shouting!!!!!!!! (!) (points to con for spelling and conduct) Pro made no arguments outside of religion. Since not everyone agrees with your religion then the religions rules should not matter in a public debate. Con made arguments that could not be refuted.

Reasons for voting decision: I don't think abortion should be allowed unless the mothers health or life is at risk if she carries the child to term. Everyone deserves a chance even rape victims. Rebecca Keesling is a rape result. Her mom tried to abort her twice but backed out because it was illegal. I couldn't tell someone like her that she should have been killed.
